Cattle, Sheep and Pigs: Their Practical Breeding and Keeping , 1912

Thank you, it was a very interesting read. The pix show thick and good structured cattle that would work today. Biggest difference I see is the finer boned preference of the time.

    Milkman cows

Age and how you fed the heifer will also determine how large her udder is and how she milks. Heifers should have smaller udders than cows anyway.  You really don't want a big one as a heifer. Big bag doesn't necessarily equate to being a heavy milker.

    Belt Buckle Cattle

Using the tape shown on the image, the bull would stand about 42" and would be in the range 00-0-1 depending on the bull's age.  They call them miniatures today.  A frame 3 bull would be about 50" at two years.

    June Smoke steer on pasture

He is mooing right then and has a bit more middle than is shown in the pic. I found him to be surprisingly stout and big boned.  If I can't get him, he is going to a feedlot. :-\

    June Smoke steer on pasture

Found this smoke calf this weekend.  I hope I can get him bought. He's weighing about 400 pounds. He's a June calf and still on momma. Sire is a Simmental, dam is a Charolais/Angus Never touched except to be banded at birth.  Pretty calm when I looked at him. I appreciate your comments.

Here are a couple I have used for wooden farm signs I carve. Search cattle clip art.  You may have to use Paint or other to color stuff black. Good luck1

    Cool marked steer

This Texas Tornado steer is being sold today and I like his markings. No Beltie blood is listed in his pedigree, but surely there is some somewhere.
