How long to wait on check?

If an individual is going to take payments on any animal, the least you should do is have the purchaser sign a promissory note.  whomever is buying should not be insulted to be asked to sign one.  They can protect both parties and outline any and all terms of the sale.  good luck and I hope you...

How long to wait on check?

PS.  I have a sign hanging in my kitchen that says "trust your neighbors, but brand your cattle".  It's kinda the same feeling to expect payment when something is sold. No hard feelings that way.

How long to wait on check?

A brand inspector can help you out and is a licensed law enforcement individual-at least in our state.  But, if the calf is gone already, I would repo the calf regardless of who has it currently.  If it was stolen from you, you have a right to get it back. I know a calf producer who was in a...

    Cows do the darnedest things...

These people are not doing their jobs and they are not using common courtesy much less common sense.  They may have permission to cross your land, but they don't have permission to destroy your livestock and business.

    Cows do the darnedest things...

I live in an area of the SW were oil and gas drilling and all the related pipeline activity and this is NOT ACCEPTABLE.  If this pipeline is crossing your land, call the company and raise holy hell.  Let them know that the price of beef is hight these days, but they don't know how high it can be...

Looking for cattle can be fun for the entire family

Hitting the road this weekend for a 1600 mile trip to just attend a sale!  Insane isn't it! And I'm even just going with a friend and her son.  What fun and I wouldn't miss it for the world.  Everyone be safe out there on those roads please.  (angel)

    Insurance

I didn't respond with a dollar amount, because it seems to float with the animal and how good things are going that year!  I look back and laugh at the times when we rushed out and insured $500 pigs and now we buy a calf worth 10 times that and we don't.  It's all relative! (thumbsup)

How are Immortal steers doing in shows?

I have seen several Immortal steers that look really good this fall, but I would like to know how they grow out.  Are they winning any shows?  Are there any problems such as structure or attitude?  I heard a breeder say he didn't like Immortal calves and just wanted a little follow up.

    Problem Calf-need help!!!

Nice heart warming stories about the blind calf thing, but the reality is that if he can't suck, he probably wont survive.  Some you win and some you lose and thats life on the farm.  It's always a shame but sometimes we don't always have the answers or the cures.  Maybe a vet or some of the...

    Cooler

Depends on the units.  Are they included and do they work?

    Online Auctions Rigged?

Not a valid comparison.  You're talking 2 completely different markets.  It's the old apples vs. oranges thing.  I suppose cattle prices could impact the low end show steer market, but that is it.

    what do you think?

    Showmaster price

I live in the 4-Corners area of NM and priced Showmaster just yesterday at the feed store.  The grower was $20/bag! I about fell over.  I buy Purina and went down the street and got my Fitters Edge for $16.50/bag.  I have family in the Texas panhandle area and can get my Purina Feed there for...

    The cost of Oil?

Why does anyone believe that just because a pipeline is built from Cananda to the US or from Iraq to Florida or Venezuala to Cuba the price of oil will go DOWN??????  Do you really think that ConocoPhillips, ExxonMobil, Chesapeak, Apache, etc... is in this business to make less money?  Get a...

Senate expected to pass debt plan, end crisis Tuesday

Not only this, but what about having Medicaid and Medicare negotiate drug prices.  That's a big problem and most people don't realize that these programs have to pay whatever the drug companies want them to.  As opposed to the VA who actually bargains for the costs of its meds.

    soap/shampoo?

I've seen EQ but not used in in this manner.  But, I'm confused.  You actually wash, then rinse, then wash again and let the stuff dry on the calf?  I would think you would have to wet them down again to work the hair.  Cant really start with flat dry hair.  Or can you?????

Northern Improvement x Hard Core granddaughter

I agree with Chambero.  Calving ease is over rated and dang sure over estimated!  Sometimes you have to pull a calf.  Doesn't mean much in the long term.  Most of those heifers go on to be good productive cows with no problem.  Can't think of any cows that we had to sell because of calving...
