Opinion on if steer will classify Angus in Texas Majors

This is our "British" steer. His dam is registered angus. Looks pretty similar but we didn't try to take him to any majors. I feel more than sure he would class out as angus in the majors but we were never questioned at jackpot/prospect shows. Just my opinion but we wouldn't try it.

    tell me what you think?

Stablized rice bran. Start slow and work your way up to 1lbs a day. 8oz twice a day. There are many threads on here about how to feed it and where to buy it. Just type it into the search box at the top of the page. The old threads will come up.

    Steer in need of fat?

I would start him at 4oz in the morning, 4oz in the evening. Just put it on the feed like a top dress. Over about 3-4 days increase the amount until you are feeding 8oz twice a day. Normally you would introduce it more slowley but you don't have a lot of time. You might want to add some beet...

    Weird question?

Is it unusual for an open yearling pampered princess of a show heifer to "adopt" and orphan calf to the point she encourages it to try to nurse. Because this little drama is going on in my barn right now. We couldn't just kick this baby out on 15 acres alone so for lack of a better option we put...

    Steer in need of fat?

Type in stabilized rice bran into the search box at the top of the page. I will bring up the old threads about using it. I think it will help you.

    MAB club calf sire?

You can type MAB in the search box at the top of the page. It will pull up old threads about him.

Club Calf Producers/Traders that have kids showing

This topic interests me because the date is set, we have four going in March to be A I for(hopefully)December show steers. After careful consideration we have decided we are going to try to sell these steers in the next county. First to avoid these conflicts of interest. Second the next county...

    When is it considered overkill?

Since this is my goal in life, I don't think so.

    When is it considered overkill?

I don't know how to do the quotations but @Tallcool1 no worries. This is a hot topic. It covers show ethics, parents styles/choices, sportsmanship and finances. Those are tough topics to talk about with people you know much less a bunch of strangers on the interweb.

    When is it considered overkill?

I forgot to add our county steer show is usually very competitive but that because we are only about 60 miles from Houston and in the past it was nothing for 15-20 kids to show at Houston first then come home to county if they didn't get branded. The numbers are lower now about 3-5. If someone...

    When is it considered overkill?

I haven't been meaning to come across like I know everything but sometimes a woman's perspective is a little different and we have been doing this for 8 years. Our county is a little different as in no body helps each other. Everyone keeps to themselves unless it's to gang up on someone. Our...

    When is it considered overkill?

This has been a great topic. I got drug thru the mud a little bit but there is a lot to think about and learn from. I still think underlying issue of BroncoFan is not what "those people" spend, it's their attitude and poor sportsmanship. It's not wrong to want win, to want your kids to do good...

    When is it considered overkill?

Once again I would like to apologize for how off track this post went. I never meant to hijack the thread. The original poster had an issue more with the peoples attitude about buying the win than the fact that they had a better calf. I was trying to point out most of the time show politics are...

    Summer 2015 calves

CC Miss America...3rd in a tough, large class at Fort Worth...next stop, Houston scramble show.

    When is it considered overkill?

Oh wow...this went down hill fast. I didn't mean for our situation to take over the original topic. I was trying to let the original poster know I agree with him but sometimes the people accused of the overkill are not doing it so they can rub everyone's face in the fact that they have more...

    When is it considered overkill?

I would like to apologize for taking this thread off track. There is a point to my rambling. Is it overkill to spend ten times more than everybody to buy a county fair win? Yes it is. Is it wrong? It's a gray area. It's not breaking the rules but it sure seems inappropriate but you can't tell...

    When is it considered overkill?

I have had to think a little bit about what to post on this because it may not be a popular stance on this issue but here it is. County shows are tricky and are almost always about politics and hurt feelings. If you want to see a bunch of adults that went to kindergarten together become mortal...

    When is it considered overkill?

I got off track in what I was trying to say, I do that sometimes when I am bragging on my kids. I am proud of them and I have every right to be. My point is we have not shown at our county yet. It is after Houston in late March. So we have not won anything. No big fish in a small pond. We hope...

    When is it considered overkill?

This year we found ourselves in money/facility situation. We didn't have time(or money)to expand and had to house four show calves, a pig and broilers. We took what money we had plus the scramble cert and bought the best thing we could afford. We went to a reputable breeder and got quality...

    When is it considered overkill?

This sounds much like our county except we are the ones one accused of overkill.
