NEED HELP GETTING RID OF RINGWORM!

What's worked for me is rubbing the ringworm down with a brush or cloth, and applying mineral oil, but other oils should work too. Done repeatedly, usually as often as you tie them up. Wear gloves though since ringworm loves humans too.

    Thinking of changing

Thats ridiculous! Would get a few tuna sandwiches out of that guy though.

    Do cattle have/express emotions?

Very good question. I'm not sure if they have emotions or not, or if it is just negative and positive association with experiences. I think that people may be quick to associate emotions with natural behaviours such as getting pleasure from being combed, for example. With that same reasoning...

    Opinions on club calf heifer.

Looks pretty solid from this angle. Too bad her buddy is blocking the view of her front tho!

How much should a calf gain in first week of life?

98 lbs after a few days and worried about a train wreck in possible offspring? I wouldn't be the slightest bit worried unless of course the cow was 1000lbs like showsteernc said, but even so, shouldn't be a problem for a good cow to spit out a 98 pounder.

The Beast is dead. 2002268 miles

That's a pile of mileage for a 2002! Impressive to say the least.

    Opinions on Heifer

Nice heifer loads of depth, clean front and looks like lots of hair to work with. Not very common to see calves tied up next to the pool!

How do I Clear Ringworm up?

Thunder, you are correct. Once an calf gets ringworm that's it. They can't get it again or cases of repeated ringworm are very rare.

How do I Clear Ringworm up?

Best results I've got are from rubbing the ringworm not too hard but just with a cloth of some sort. Then apply an oil or antifungal (simple mineral oil worked for me). Be careful though coming from a guy who has had ringworm more than once, its not fun.

Agribition 2010 What happened to the Charolais Cow???

I would refer to the thread already running called Exciting Times at Agribition by Mark H, all you need to know is there I think.

from the snowy, frigid Soutwestern Manitoba, Canada!

    Soundness

All you have to do is look at the animals in the Agribition Beef Supreme. Not to knock anyone that had animals in there, but I'm aware of more than one animal that had to be tranq'd just so they could walk "somewhat" smoother, without dragging their feet, rocking, etc. Granted, most of those...

    Agribition Shorthorn Sale

The first lot...talk about thick. I helped fit this bull last year at Agribition and wow. He got lots of attention throughout the week and I'm sure he got the same this year. Wish I could have been there to see him this year.

    Movement and Soundness 101....

Enjoyed the post. I agree that soundness and movement are often overlooked when actually they should be forefront in selection. This heifer is as good as you could ask in that department.

    Nose Rings

We only ring show bulls, sometime after weaning. I don't recommend doing it at weaning seeing they are stressed enough. Its not hard to do assuming you know what your doing. We once ringed some bull calves 3 weeks before the show and it wasn't enough for them to heal as they bled a little bit at...

How can I get my heifer fat?

Well visually a fat animal will look better over a thinner one because all the depressions are filled out, and exhibitors figured that out quickly. However that definately depresses their performance in most areas, no argument there. Longevity definately takes a hit if overfed.

How can I get my heifer fat?

I fully agree it scares me when people pump feed into females they intend on keeping. Lots can take it but a fat heifer is physiologically at a disadvantage.

How can I get my heifer fat?

I may be the only one who thinks this way, but it seems wrong to try and get a heifer "fat". The thing is that I am well aware show animals have to be conditioned to show, but that doesn't make it any more acceptalbe in my books. Nothing directed towards you Sassy, as its a valid question for...

Don't look at this if you are over 40

Our best show steers on our farm are usually those with Chianina somewhere in their pedigree. Not all get the Chi attitude but those that do, watch out!
