    Need help with my heifer!

Ok, first off y'all stop ragging on her for trying to get some info. Everyone was a beginner once. Second off, if it was my heifer this is what I would do: For about a week do not try and halter, brush, bathe, etc. Herd her into a pen or a small area similar to that, and just sit there on a...

    Trouble Keeping Manure Solid-Activated Charcoal

The vet suggested the activated charcoal. And what I meant by "flushing out" is it takes all toxins, bad bacteria, contaminants, etc. out of the system. Google medical purpose of activated charcoal. And I do know that coccidia is a microscopic intestinal parasite. And by lower intestine I am...

    Trouble Keeping Manure Solid-Activated Charcoal

I was wondering if it was that. But his case was only sub-clinical so the vet said it is unlikey there is scarring, but it is not impossible.

    Trouble Keeping Manure Solid-Activated Charcoal

He gets 2 oz once a week cause the vet says it is possible to overstimulate the rumen. And I really don't want to switch hays as haygrazer has a higher digestibility and helps keep their rumen healthier. According to the vet one of the best hays to feed to sensitive steers. Showmaster is by...

    Trouble Keeping Manure Solid-Activated Charcoal

We've always had trouble keeping my steer's manure solid. Now when we first got him there was a valid reason (coccidia) but now it takes so little to give him scours. He is really hard to keep solid, and when your in a fully concrete school barn you get tired of trying to clean up runny manure...

Why do people need a cooler room?

This is a different direction than what I originally posted, but why is it that people think they have to have hair on a cow to present it to the judge? Someone mentioned that a good calf is a good calf no matter what, so why the hair? Just a fad? From what I've seen it is just used to hide...

    Chickens around cows?

I have heard that you should keep them separate, because the calves can get sick from the chicken poop. Because chickens (poultry/birds in general) carry a lot of diseases that the cows can pick up. But on another note I know lots of people who keep chickens and they run with the cows and...

    Breaking/fitting strangeness

They are being very paranoid about it, but as long as you get paid do your best and keep 'em happy. As far as cameras that still use film, you'll either have to find one or go through a lot of dollar store disposables. Now that I think about it, they probably want them undeveloped because if...

    Advise please?

Beet pulp is a filler and gives them a full fresh appearance, it helps to add depth. And if you soak them first it helps keep them hydrated when it is hot, I highly recommend using it.

    Thoughts please!!

I like the first one, and think he will make a good bull. But he does need more depth, but I think he will get that with time. I think he is going to fill out and look great. And I like the second also, but again depth, he actually reminds me of my steer.

    steer opinions w/ more pictures

My steer cost the same as hers. We select through a lotto system, the ag teachers go buy the steers and on selection day we select a number and then choose out of the steers they bought.
