When Did Cattle Start Getting So Expensive?

I'm not really thinking its necisary to start throwing names out on this board about people oweing money to anyone unless maybe it is you personally. NOT COOL in my opinion. Show some class.

Lightning Jack is a Char x  bull that has thrown some really nice slicks also Popeye ( tommy Schroader Bull)  has produced a bunch of slick Champions in Texas.

What to breed heatwave daughters to

sorta depends on what your goal for the calf is. If you are wanting steers out of them I think you go one way and for replacements I think totally opposite. The only trait I think that will need to be kept consistent in either case would be super sound. If I could only choose one Bull for each...

    Monopolys as mammas?

I would think they are going to make decent cows for the most part being no less than 1/4 angus. As with any some will be better than others, but if I were a betting man I would say some where between wmw and hw.

    New Sunseeker Pics.

Hey dude, I hope you get 10k for him. More power to you. I just wondered what the price would have been if he'd of won the class. 5k is not alot of money these days for a steer, infact I would say in most cases all that will get you is a middle of the road type calf. At least down here in Texas...

looking for a bull to breed this cow to.

If she were mine i'd breed her to Carnac if available to you. He is a HW son but not as much a problem calving as his sire. I've heard Monopoly is not working on angus cows. if you are considering a shorthorn, I'd try double vision.

    simangus

Ok all that helps. I think with that description I would consider Carnac or maybe Sunseeker if she is not too heavy in her front.

    simangus

Its almost impossible to suggest the right bull or bulls to use based on breed of cow only. A picture would be very helpful in making a better suggestion. Every cow has different needs or weaknesses that we try to improve with the bull.As a generalization Lifeline works well on charolais cows...

    Slick shows??

keep the hair. Hard work should be rewarded. Those willing to get up early and get their calves out of the sun and under fans and rinse and blow at least once a day should reap the benefits of what a good hair coat can provide.  As far as slicking goes I am from Texasand I can tell you there are...

    SIRES AND BULLS

If you are wanting hairy calves for up north i'd try using double vision on the maine/angus cows. That should give you some color. For the heifers first go round I would definatly keep calving ease in mind. With that being said I think I'd try and find a super cool Hereford bull to put on those...

    Steer opinions

They look like they are on diets. Feed them!!! and when they eat all of that Feed them some more!!!  You have to get them there first. Too many people worry too often about getting one to heavy too fast. Get them there first, then you can pull or coast at the end. Its much much easier to take it...
