    hereford or herford colored bull

Made Right gets some dang good cattle, but will not downsize.  Carpe Diem will down size and add some hair and style.  I might look at using Torque the sire of the champion polled at ft. worth which is a carpe diem son or his full brothers that were new on the market this fall Encore or Kalija. ...

    c-section effect flushing?

One of most prolific cows had a c-section and never had a problem with flushing.  She was flushed 5 times with the results of 6, 7, 1, 12, and 13 embryos.  The reason for the low number the one time was marked as either drug related, or semen quaility.  I probably would not try flushing this...

M Lazy Heart Western Shootout Sale

Has anyone seen the hereford marked outerlimits x heatwave.  This calf impresses me on video, but what is he like in person?

    Ft. Worth steer show

It still comes back to the parentage issue.  Take two purebred commercial animals breed them and get an outstanding calf and he does not test purebred because of lack of data collected then we are in the same situation as I see it.  If we have a select set of cattle that are in the pool of data...

    Ft. Worth steer show

DNA will only give you parentage.  So any commercial purebred cow or bull would be obsolete causing several breeds, mainly the brithish cattle, to limit to only papered cattle that have been DNA'd.  That will never work.  It would wreck the steer show in the south simply by not having enough...

    Ft. Worth steer show

The AHA would be crazy not to promote a this res. grand.  He is out of registered bull, but I promise you it will be up to the owner of the bull to promote this well deserved accomplishment.

    Ft. Worth steer show

I seriously doubt that the AHA will promote the winning of a hereford steer.  A few years back a hereford was picked as reserve in Houston, not  a word said about the champion at Houston from the association.  They are to afraid to promote their own breed.  Angus is kicking the AHA teeth in when...

Herf looking club calves-- ins and outs

J3, you own that bull with some really good people.  The Carvers have good cattle and are exceptional people.  Dont know you but your operation looks to be a goodone.  The shorty you have been promoting is nice and definitely a thought is in mind to use him.  Just looking for good genetics and...

Herf looking club calves-- ins and outs

J3, the guy you sell for has some good cattle.  Just seen the ones that have been successful and not the cowherd.  I just wish he would turn loose of some of that Rawhide semen.  I never really have tried to get any just been told by some that it wont happen.  Your promoted bull Big Jake looks...

Herf looking club calves-- ins and outs

I could not figure out if you were bashing herefords or not from these quotes.  My bad.  Herefords definitely have some bad sides just like every other breed, including maybe the most prevelant one in which you deal.  I am in the shorthorn business too. Dont get me started about their problems.

Herf looking club calves-- ins and outs

I truly think that the most up and coming is neither of the three or four you have listed.  Hoffmans from Nebraska I would say is on top of that ball game in a big way look at the results from the past several Denver shows.  Deshazer i am not sure even exists anymore, Remitall has dispersed...

Herf looking club calves-- ins and outs

Wow!  So I guess you will be the next person in line to raise the great hereford.  You need to reevaluate narrow gauged and quality in the hereford show.  Go to Ft. Worth and take a gander, look at the top end of the cattle there and then try to raise one of that caliber.  If and when you get...

Herf looking club calves-- ins and outs

Been in the hereford club calf business for awhile.  It has changed drastically in the last 5yrs or so.  We have used Carpe Diem alot, the problem is the red goggle eye that he throws.  It will work in OK but not in TX.  Cattle are good and would not trade the females for anything.  If the cows...

    monopoly semen

I am confused a little, silver and white are not good quality, blue is the best from REI, so where does that leave the green top?  The reason for the question is I just had some green shipped to me a month ago.

How do his calves look this first time around?

    Carnac??

not had much to do with him, but have witnessed some differing things than the previous post.  The steer that won Ft. Worth this past year was as hairy as you can make one, and the soundest calf in the barns at Ft Worth.  Maybe this is not the norm, but it is fact that he had 6 to 10 inches of...

    Shorthorn bulls to use???

Just to clearthe air a little.  When I bought those cows they were exactly what I wanted.  The 13 were fine I just never could match them correctly with the right bull.  My donor cow I would not trade at all with the experience I had.  I just wish I would have used double stuff to no end on her...
