    fbf1 combustible

Just wondering if anyone here has had any combustible calves and if you have any thoughts on him? I'm thinking of using him on a few of our fall calving cows.  Has anyone seen his son Ignition?  Thanks in advance.

    Trouble getting cows to stick!!

That is never fun.  If you are using a good mineral, I would look into your vaccination program.  For many years (25 or so) we used a modified live vaccine (Bovishield Gold) and a few years ago, we had problems with AIing and notice that many of the cows were cycling at weird intervals.  We then...

    Simmy bull - W/C Wide Track 694Y

I really feel bad for the owners of Wide Track and also those that were selling semen and cattle sired by him over the past few weeks.  At one sale, I saw embryos out of a very good donor go extremely cheap because (I am assuming) they were sired by Wide Track.  In hind sight, I wish I jumped on...

Show Equipment Suppllies at The Big E Regional Youth & Jackpot Show

Twist of Fate is the only show supply company at the Big East show (http://www.twistoffatespinnery.com/), at least in the past.  They have some things in stock but they are known to run out so if you definitely need something, I would recommend placing an order ahead of time (probably this...

which bull to use for calving ease to make a show heifer

Love the looks of the Make it Rains that we have had.  Just an FYI, I believe MIR's CE epd is quite low.  Make sure you check it out....not sure if I would use him on a heifer, although we did 2 years ago (when his CE epd was better) and she had the calf without any issues.

    Broker Docility

We have had 4 broker calves.  Before I say much, understand that we have a small simmental herd and all of our cows are halter broke and handled often.  Some of the cows are more ornery than others but all can be haltered and led comfortably.  Of the 4 calves, 3 were heifers that we attempted to...

    What Simmental Bull to use?

I'm not trying to steal this thread but with all of the One Eyed Jack comments, I was wondering what people's thoughts are as to what type of cow he works best on?  I haven't seen any in person but there are a lot of nice pics out there.

    What Simmental Bull to use?

Mark, up here in the northeast, he was used quite a bit last year.  From conversations with others in the area, most of us were very surprised by the BW numbers out of the Broker sired calves.  We are talking consistently between 100-130 lbs.  Yes, there are other factors but compared to other...

    What Simmental Bull to use?

Not to go all negative but my Broker experience is that he produces nice calves but disposition is not always the best and they usually come out with high birth weights.  If you are looking to decrease size, this is not the bull for you in my opinion.  In my opinion, Grandmaster might be what...

    Calving ease Simmental bull

We are using Uno Mas on our heifers this year.  I haven't personally seen any calves out of him but from what I have heard, they should be nice.  CE epd looks great! (I'm also assuming that you are looking for a show type bull to use.)  We have used grandmaster in the past but his CE epds are...

    calving ease shorthorn bull

Thank you for all of the thoughts and replies.  Much appreciated!  I will check out the 80+ thread from earlier this year.  The breeding on the heifer is a commercial shorthorn/simmental dam and a shorthorn herd bull out of JSF Sir Patrick 42Y.  I'm hoping to add a little color to our herd...

    calving ease shorthorn bull

I recently picked up a shorthorn plus heifer and I have been thinking about what bull to use.  I know very little about the shorthorn breed.  I would love to hear any and all suggestions and for each bull recommendation, why you like that bull.  Thanks in advance.

    Broker calves ?

We have 3 heifers and one bull (steer) calf out of Broker.  They all came with higher birth weights (100-115) but no calving issues.  So far the heifers all look good, real good.  Of our calf crop (14 calves), the 3 heifers are probably our top 3 or 4 this year (we have a pretty nice Wide Track...

Any current thoughts on Top Grade?  Anyone have any calves on the ground? I'm curious about soundness and calving ease.

    Simmental Heifer Breeding Questions!

Entourage has not worked for us in making show animals.  Otherwise, he throws them thick, deep but a little course shoulder and a little heavier fronted (at least for us). I like the cattle but not for the show circuit.

    Simmental Heifer Breeding Questions!

Grandmaster has worked for us although he dd not improve the neck, he didn't make it worse either.  Although I don't have first hand knowledge, I am intrigued by Make it Rain as a potential show producing bull (from the limited few I have seen, they seem to have the show look).

    Simmy bull - W/C Wide Track 694Y

He is probably too young to have any calves on the ground, but does anyone have any info on him?  Anyone seen him?  Genex has added him to their lineup....looks very interesting....
