Please don't attach the politics of TCCA to the Santa Gertrudis breed. Participate in the National Jr. Santa Gertrudis Association and you'll find that isn't the case. I was president of the association for a year, I know. The politics in our breed are no worse than any other.

I think it's especially odd this happened during the day time. I've lost 2 calves in the past year - 1 vanished and I found half of another but it was intact a bit more than this. I would agree with the suggestion to watch calves close and carry a gun. That's a bit freaky

There are herds of Santa Gertrudis in Canada, New York state, Ohio, and Indiana so to say they won't work in cold climates is a false statement. Many people discount American cattle but I post much higher weaning weights than many commercial crossbreed producers in my area.

That is exactly why I said "at this stage in their life." That cow is amazing. If I owned her I would expect a whole lot out of her. Since these are the only pictures we have to judge the calves on that is my opinion. The whole point of the post was to ask our opinions.
