    Steer needed

I have two bull calves that are being weaned right now. They are early June calves with simmenta/angus crosses. They're primarily for 1st year members looking for an easier, smaller, feeding project. Probably not what you are looking for but just wanted to let you know what I have. I'm located...

    New Heifer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a red monopoly heifer that I'm showing this year. Thinking about possibly breeding her to I80 but I'm not really confident if he's truly calving ease.... I want a live nice quality calf on the first one.

    Let's hear some calf reports.

Ok thanks! This helps boost my confidence. This is the first AI that I've done, she's due around late march. The cow is not clubby bred but her calves have been pretty good size. Hopefully everything goes well.

    Sunseeker x Heatwave Steer

Thanks! Do you think I shouldbe upping his feed more? He cleans it up pretty good, but on days when I bring him in to the barn and "snack" him all day he's not as hungry by the evening feeding, but other than that he's been cleaning it up pretty good.

What are your thoughts on Walks Alone calving ease? I bred him to my simmy/angus 4th calver that has some power and bone.

    Sunseeker x Heatwave Steer

This is my steer for the 2012-2103 show season. He is a later march chianina steer that is siredby Sunseeker and out of a Heatwave cow. He is currently eating about 24 quarts a day of mainly Fitter's Edge with Preconditioning and beet pulp. He also has all the grass/alfalfa mix hay he wants. Our...

    Roto Brush

So what exactly does the roto brush do? Does is fluff the leg hair, help it grow longer? My understanding is that you can put one onthe end of a regular drill? What are your routines in using a roto brush?

    2012 Calves

Thanks they are all sired by the same bull so that may be why. We are planning on keeping the top heifer and having my younger brother show her. She looks really good as of now. I also want to keep the second heifer and see how she develops. The bulls we plan on castrating them and selling them...

    Names for my Steer

Thanks! My fair is at the end of July/beginning of August. He is a later march calf so I may have to push him some, but we are pretty good at putting the weight on.

    Names for my Steer

*bump* Well thanks for all of the names! It was a hard decision, but I decided to go with Zeus! Now I would appreciate any comments or opinions on him! Thanks for helping me out Steerplanet :)

Is there anyway you can determine how much hair a calf is going to have?

Mick Rems- Great info! I would also suggest brushing your calf as much as possible with a rice root brush and massage brush. Especially the leg hair so that you can get it to "poof" out and be a joy to fit come show day.
