    opinions again? same heifer.

The heifer is still progressing, I would say like the others that she needs some more groceries. Get your muscles going and brush her!!

    Clipping

I learned to clip by taking a picture of a really well fit heifer to the barn and tried my best to imitate what the fitter did to that animal. It may sound naive, but it worked well for me. Having a reliable set of clippers is important, something that you know how to use well and know exactly...

How quick can I AI after calving?

I've had the same issue and my vet suggested putting the CIDR in on the 21st day after calving and breeding on the completion of that sync. Day 1(8am): CIDR in and hit with Fertagyl. Day 7 (8am): CIDR out and hit with Estrumate. Day 9(12 pm): hit with Fertagyl and breed AI or bull

    Shorthorn breeding suggestion

Maybe not the calving ease of Capiche, but JSF Gauge has been used on bigger heifers with success. He has an 88 lbs. birth weight, which in my opinion is fine for heifers.

    Thoughts on Reg Charolais Heifer

Very cool pair of heifers! :)

    Capiche

I have used him on some Firewater daughters and have some very appealing F1 calves. They were all born below 80 lbs. (all of them bulls, now steers). I would agree that they need longer stride. They have had decent growth compared to Capiche's low WW. I'm pleased so far.

    Simmental Sires Progeny Characteristics

I have some Combustibles due soon. I used him to strengthen hooks to pins. That is one of the main faults in my cow herd. I've also used Uno Mas in the past, they were no more than ok for me, inconsistent in my herd. Broker seems to be throwing some really sound patterned cattle with some added...

Would these heifers make show cattle?

I've been successful in crossing Sin City (White Shorthorn) with Flechvieh type cows to get a showy calf in the result.

county fair show- groomed or slick?

At our 4-H shows, no one is aloud to fit the animals other than the kids. The only help they can get is from other members of their 4-H club. The leaders, parents and other attendants to the show are not aloud to even put a comb to the animals. The punishment for this is disqualification of the...

    Which do you prefer??

Sullivan's carry a new comb that is made of a product that the glue doesn't stick to. I have recently started to love them. Since then I always used a regular steel comb.

calf with bad leg need help

I've had a calf like this, I've figured that it's because ther is so much weight up top and not enough muscle below. The one I had lived but was never terribly sound on his feet and legs. I gave selenium, AD and New Cells it helped I think

    Alta Cedar First Blood 5R

I was hoping for some calving ease and downsizing some frame, will he manage that?

Opinions on simmi bull calf (new pics)

I might fault him on his front wheels, but otherwise a stellar calf

I am thinking of using him to produce some F1 Char crosses. How do you think he would work?

    Thoughts? 2014 Show Calves

Good looking calves. I like Tom the best, he seems to have the most performance. Assuming that these calves are all about the same age. Just my opinion though.
