Particularly first calf heifers seem to be late. We had a crossbreed heifer bred to a Charolais bull and I was worried about size but it turned out okay almost 3 weeks overdue

He looks like a sound bull and he should produce some good calves. I will probably cross him with Capiche and Sin City.

Do you have any pics of these calves? I just have a few doses and was wondering what he would cross like on larger framed cows?

I recently acquired a package of shorthorn semen from a retired breeder; it had Alta Cedar First Blood included in it. Has anyone ever used him? Any pictures of his calves? He looks like a pretty sound bull. I haven't seen any offspring off of him though.

He should fit the bill if he has been fed right. I have always said that a bull that has been fed right should breed a handful when they're reaching 1200-1300 lbs.

Never had them try to kill the new calf, but their own I have seen. I have also seen them try to kill me!!

I have used Legend successfully on heifers. Sin City would be another possible choice. Not for use on heifers though.

I had two Goldmine calves born about 3 weeks ago and they are looking pretty decent. Nichols Manifest has also thrown some pretty good calves bred to cows like this.

Not all cattle must look like 'clubby' show calves, if you are making a profit, good for you, if not, change your business model! Ditto!

By the pictures she needs to see a feed bucket. My 6 month old calves are pushing 700 lbs. with no creep, only mommas milk and hay. Are Devon's characteristically harder to get weight on? I'm not too familiar with the breed, enough to know that they are really light boned though.

We have had 4/9 early. The rest were late. Not one has hit the due date yet. Lol

I'll say High Regard again. Also, Combustible looks like a good choice as well. If you can find Broker semen without breaking the bank, he would be another quality choice. Lots of options, that's a really nice heifer too!

If she was a bit bigger boned I would like her a lot more. She does fit the Devon breed characteristic though. I might consider breeding her to a clubby/Maine bull when the time comes, something with some bone.  <cowboy>
