    Opinions

I am seeing many references to "Modern show steer type" or " The type of steers demanded today". Question: What is this type? Are we moving to a more complete animal that is more moderate in terms of muscle and skeleton or are they getting even more extreme? I think I know the answer I just...

    Steer Question

Your description fits him to a tee! He loves to eat and he is on a pretty hot ration. I will try your suggestion.

    Steer Question

So no one has an opinion. I would really appreciate your opinion good, bad or ugly. I am trying to decide if I should offer the calf for sale or not.

    Steer Question

We have a Sept. calf that is a real stud. I have high hopes for the calf but he seems to posess one disappointing trait. To look at him you would say he is sound as a cat but when you watch him on the move he "pops his rear pasterns" to varying degrees. Sometimes you look at him just moving...

    BIM

I think you are missing my point. Obviously the bull owners and others have quite a bit of confidence in the bull based on the concentration of calves out of him in his sale. I am aware that in many sales (especially club calves) the breeder hosting the sale did not breed and raise all of the...

    MONOPOLY 2

Had a few monopoly 2 calves born this Fall. All are stout, big boned and hairy. All are also somewhat open at the point of their shoulders thus causing them to "toe out" to varying degrees. I really don't know about other areas of the country but in the Southeast most judges really emphasize...

    BIM

I realize that. He also owns 3 or 4 of the other sires represented and he did not breed or raise all of those calves.

Of the 55 lots pictured in Rodgers Fall sale 18 of them are out of "Believe in Me". More than any other sire group. I believe!

    Monopoly steer oppinions please!

I'll bet he will make a nice Fat! Probably not going to have enough power to run with the big boys but will be a soft smooth cool looking fat steer. Just my opinion.

Does anyone know what lot 30 wound up selling for? I really liked the picture of him!

    Sunseeker x Heatwave Steer

Nice steerthat should get better with time! He appears to be a stout one with a really good hip and hind leg structure. The pictures were take from a funny angle and makes him look a little short. Both through his front end and body cavity. He appears to have great hair and will surely be able...

My sons Amen Steer! What are your thoughts?

He looks good in the picture and I can tell you what the steer looks like in person and that is really good! I can picture what he looks like in person because he looks similar to an Amen heifer I have. I really like her and think he is one of the most underutilized bulls out today.

Infection at castration site of show steer . PLEASE HELP MY SON.

[b]"Hydrotherapy"  This is a treatment that is widely utilized in Vet. Medicine today and is effective. It is simply showering in and around the affected area with water! Take your average garden variety hose with a sprayer nozzle on the end. Shower the area at least twice a day for about 15...

Ok' So I asked for it!

Had my first (and last) TH calf this weekend. The cow is an 11 year old Heat Seeker that has had some nice calves over the years and I bred her to Monopoly 2. Yes, I knew the cow was potentially a carrier and I was aware of the risk. However, I was blinded by the potential rewards. I have worked...

Just had a Believe in Me bull calve

Jackie, congrats on the calf! I bought 2 canes of semen on him last July. I plan to breed all of my mature cows to him. May be a mistake but that is the plan.

    Hairy Bear

I have had a couple of really nice heifers over the years out of HB. The steers that I have had have all been pretty, good structured animals with good hair. They have just had a little too much frame and not enough power to be real competitive.

    Question about newborn

I had a calf born about 10 days ago. The calf is stout and really has a cool look about him. When you view him walking he looks great but when he stops he drops his top pretty drastically.  He does seem to be better about holding his top up now than he did when he was only a couple of days old...
