Wish we were, but my daughter will be at McPeak's Be A Champ show camp.  Stock Show University will be in Stillwater too.  Seems like everything is always the same weekend.

Settle an argument...who has to open the gate?

From time to time the hubs will ask if I want to go to town with him.  It's usually because he wants me to drive.  I quit falling for that one. (argue)

    Administering banamine

We've done that a couple of shows, when our steer was sore from having to be tied up and standing on hard shaving covered ground for a couple of days.

    Halter Breaking Issues

Lots of contact and we tallk to our calves.  I keep up a running dialouge the whole tiime I'm working with them.  My daughter talks to her calf in the ring when she is showing.  It's so funny to see her leaning over whispering in his ear.  She says she tells him "he's a winner"  "the judge loves...

    Front end problem

We had the same problem last week.  Our steer (1150 lb) started limping on his front right leg.  The only thing the vet found was foot rot.  After a shot of LA300 and some banamine he seems much better.  I am also squirting Iodine between his toes everyday.  Our little heifer also had it.  The...

    Ultimate SHOW cattle trailer

We just bought a new Calico, that we had specked out.  20ft with 4ft tack/dressing room.  Extra wide door on tack room for showbox and ramps to get it in and out.  Enough room to haul 4 steers, or 2 steers and put the fans and other stuff in one section.  Tie outs inside and low on one outside...

    Blow and Go show

We wash and blow dry, comb in mouse, dry, Kleen sheen, dry, and a little Final Bloom.  My daughter and I love Blow and Go because there is no breakdown after, lol.  A much less stressful day for our show team which consist of my daughter 15, my hubby and me, and sometimes our Ag teacher. <party>

    Galloway bull on heifer

Has anyone used  Glenfiddich Pericles on a heifer?  I have a Heatwave heifer that I am thinking of putting him on.  She needs some hair and bone added.  Hoping to get a decent calf to win County bred with.  We have an Eye Candy steer and I adore his disposition and hair (except for the time it...

    Crazy Calf

While checking our irrigated soybeans last summer we went in one gate and out another.  Due to the extreme heat, we forgot to shut one gate and had about 50 head party all night.  They ate the beans and tore up the pipe.  Lesson learned the hard way.

    Crazy Calf

My daughter's Eye Candy steer is a nut.  She is at state FFA Convention this week and I am on calf duty.  When I went out to feed this morning the gate was cracked but he and the heifer were both standing at the feed trough looking like angels waiting for breakfast.  After feeding and watering I...
