    Let's hear some calf reports.

Good to hear all the Walks Alone and BIM fans, because my daughter has a steer out of each for this season's showing.  Really nice calves but still looking for the "Ringer"

    Cool room question

Our cool room is constructed from the insulated panels from a grocery store cooler.  They were white already and we painted them with a coating of the elastomeric roof coating, so we could wash them down more easily.

    THE FAIRNESS POLICE

I was just discussing this thread with my 15 year old daughter and this was her reply. "Well that's crap, what about all the time I put in washing and working hair?"  Just because some other kid is lazy, I get penalized?  That's stupid."    well said

    Fall?

We are starting to see some color, which is early for us.  Send good thoughts our way, it's our fair week and today will hit 104.  Barn full of fans and misters.

Great Photo from New York State Fair

Isn't it nice that the "first love" is a calf, lol.  That makes a lot of daddies happy.

    Take that PETA

So proud of my 15 year old daughter.  She started her FFA speech yesterday, and is doing it over how misinformed people think show cattle are abused.  This was totally her idea.  (thumbsup) (thumbsup)  It's amazing how stupid, well educated people can be.  I have a lady (who has a doctorate in...

What would be a good name for a eye candy steer

Snickers is what we have nicknamed our heifer,  she's like the commercial "she's not herself when she's hungry"  Great disposition except when she's hungry, kinda like me, lol.

    Touch Up Paint

I have a Boardwalk heifer that is colored like a Charolais.  I am having trouble finding a touchup paint to match.  The white is too white, the SmokeEm is too gray.  Any suggetions?  She has more of a yellowish tint.

    Steer Showmanship at Tulsa

Does everyone fit their cattle for showmanship at Tulsa?  We are trying to decide whether to enter or not.  After hauling and standing in a strange place, we don't want to stress our calf more than necessary.

    Help with SensaPhone 400

Just got back from the barn and updated the xlink.  Didn't help any.  I will go set to answer on 3rd ring and see if that helps.  The Sensaphone picks up at it's box when I call, but the phone I'm calling from just rings and rings and finally gets a voicemail message.  At least it does dial out...

    Help with SensaPhone 400

Thanks, I'll take another look at the xlink.  It shows to be connected and I can make the Sensaphone dial out and test numbers, and it has called me with an alarm a few times.  I'll try again.

    AI school

I went to the Coba/Select Sires AI school in Tyler Tx.  Great group.  Was small and lots of individual attention.  Plus I got 3 days away from the hubby and kids, and two nights in a hotel room by myself.  I call that a mini vacation, lol <party>

    Help with SensaPhone 400

We recently installed an alarm unit from Cool Calf.  If comes with the SensaPhone 400.  We don't have a landline at the new Showbarn so I am having to use a trackphone and an XLink router.  Here's the problem:  The Sensaphone will call OUT when there is an alarm, but I can't call IN to check on...

    Summer Calf Routine

We start about 6 am by putting the calves on the walk rack attached to the tractor.  Husband walks them for 30 min to an hour depending on how much time we have and how hot it is.  My daughter and I clean our pens and the cool room.  She gets feed pans ready and fills the hay bags.  After they...
