    AI-ing a Second Calf Heifer/Cow

Most reps should be able to help you out with this or know another local person that would. $500 seems very steep. I would expect it to be closer to $25-40 range plus semen cost. Good luck.

scales are expensive but really informative

Scales are a great tool. We have a scale right on our squeeze chute every time we work an animal we have weights. Its not just a great tool for tracking performance but also great for saving on drug costs. We run a small feedlot and the drug savings hasore than paid for the scale in a short...

    Using a donkey

We always used the donkey when we were kids in 4h. A good donkey teaches them for pressure pull and give. It's still up to you to put in the work taking the calf down but the donkey teaches a ton of respect for the halter on very short fashion. When are good jenny passed we tried replacing her...

    Opinions?

Nice hefier . Should make a nice cow. Rumor mill might be a nice cross on her. Montego bay is another bull I find intriguing that looks to be hefiers friendly

    Hoof Rot Prevention

Mineral can be a big help. If your needing it under control in a hurry try a foot bath with an anti fungal around the water tank or mineral feeder that cows need to walk through. Virkon works well I'm some of the dairy herds I've spoken to in the past
