We weaned calves yesterday.  Here are two 3/4 blood Galloway 1/4 Angus heifers.  Born Feb. 2015, sired by Moto Moto.  70 and 74 lb BW.

All European bred.  Located across the pond.

I am sure I will catch hell from some,  but we use no type of insecticide.  Our Galloways are not bothered nearly as much asmo st cattle.  Our neighbors cows are bunchedup fight ing flies.  Ours are out grazing at the same time of day.  Adjoining pastures. Natural bred in resistance.

(clapping) <beer> Good bull, better Angus bull than most being used AI.  Not narrow or flat muscled enough to be popular.

I would suggest just raising Silver dun Galloways.  They have the color and the traits you are wanting. If that isn't what you want, buy some Angus X Char heifers and breed them Galloway.  Then breed those heifer calves Murray Grey.  I have marketed many of our customers calves that direction.

The coarser the bedding the better.  The fine wood slivers can be a real pain to get out.

Thanks for the positive comments. Here are a couple of pictures of Moto Moto taken 3 weeks ago.  He had been out breeding cows for a couple of weeks. He is 3 yrs old.

Here is a 3 month old Full blood heifer calf sired by Moto Moto. Mark once you get a clipper on them, their necks lengthen out.  ;D

Here is a picture of one of our junior herd sires.  He is a March 2014 Pericles son.  He has been breeding a handful of 2nd calf heifers and cows for 45 days. He weighed 1260 lbs at 1 yr of age.

We have a 1987 DCT brand 6X12 with a single 7K torsion axle, no gate inside.  Pulls great loaded, bounces on the tires when empty.  Handy trailer for delivering a few head somewhere.

What is the average lifespan of a "club calf" herd?... 7 years?? It get's so bad some people end up culling 90% of their herd and are forced to go find good solid pured up real world production females from someone who has spent time actually building a product that can be depended on to go out...

Here are updated pics of 3 Moto Moto sired calves.  These are all 3/4 Blood Galloway and 1/4 Angus, 65, 66 and 74 lb birth weights respectively. It was 32 degrees and raining with a 35 mph wind.  Perfect Galloway weather.  ;)

Here is a picture of our No Surprise sired bull calf out of a Pericles 3 yr old daughter. Dam is a 3/4 Galloway 1/4 Angus female. 90 lb BW unassisted and very vigorous at birth.
