In my opinion from what i have seen open bar will add guts but as far as any other maine bull out there today i dont see it happening. the maine bulls out there today dont add guts not ali, joe or any that i have seen.  The calves will only have as much guts as their mother has. The only good...

    Bleeding post AI

I have seen this for the last 7 years on my cows with only having a few and watching them very close. Cowboy also told me this a couple years ago. If you see just a little dark blood in the mucos the cow ovulated and is bred.  But if you see alot of bright red blood she ovulated but did not...

    Star Power

If you are going to keep those clubby females especially the ones that have clubby in them for two generations you should really use a calving ease angus bull.  The angus bulls listed are very good bulls and are fairly calving ease but not on those powered up females. I had two juneas a couple...

    Naughty Pine

Had one heifer last year.  100 lbs birth weight and that was actual birth weight on a hanging scale. She was born unassisted out of a big simmi angus cow.  I would say you need to use him on a cow that has some power and size as well.

    Ivormec question

Is there any problems or issues ivormecting a cow that is bred for 28 days. She is a donor and just bred running with cows with march calves.  Wanted to ivormec the cows with calves and was wondering if it would affect the cow that is bred for 28 days. Thank you

    Waiting on a cow...

I am the same way.  I had one acting funny this morning walkiing the fences but she never did anything.  Finally i ran her in the chute and could go in a foot and find the calf's feet and head and it wasnt big at all for a cow's sixth calf.  She was fully dialated but never layed down to push...

To fudge or not to fudge, that is the question!

Very good point.  And in the clubby business the calves are not built like a snake.  They will be alot thicker topped from their head all the way to that hip.  And if you talk to alot of people they all say if you had to help it means it is that much thicker and going to be a better show steer...

To fudge or not to fudge, that is the question!

After reading this post several times today i had to respond.  In the commercial and purebreds you need accurate weights for your customers.  Because you want repeat customers.  I have learned in the business world that it is much easier to maintain customers than it is to loose them and try to...
