Unfortunately, it sounds like spastic paresis. I had a heifer get this disease.  We took her to the Iowa State University for surgery, unfortunately without good results and she had to be put down. I sure hope this isn't the case for your calf..

THANK YOU a lot for your comments.  I am glad I went with my "gut" feeling and passed on the calf.  I think the owner thought I wasn't going to notice it, guess what "I DID."  We learn something new every day don't we in the cattle business...

I have a question on popping pasterns. I looked at a Sunseeker calf yesterday and noticed he had popping in pasterns.  First of all is this a Sunseeker trait?  Will it affect the calf all of showing life and lastly was I wise on not buying the calf?? Thanks for your time..

Thanks Iowabeef, I had no idea how the Sale of Champions worked.  I watched it last night on IPTV and noticed all of the records being set which was great.  The 4-Her's who raised the money to set the records should be given a pat on the back also... (clapping)

Watching my kids enter the show ring with their head held high and proud of the animal they are showing.  My daughter who is 10  says she could show all day long if the judge would let her..She won junior showmanship at our county fair this year as a beginner.  (clapping) (clapping)

This is my daughter's first year in 4-H and first year of showing.  As of today we have 30 days until weigh-in for our county fair. I share in your excitment.  I have been raised with cattle and showing cattle as well have my children and it definitely gets "in one's blood." Enjoy your son't...
