Looking for Animal Chiropractor, Abilene TX area

RackRanch who posts on this board regularly is an animal chiropractor.  That includes show steers.  I would recommend contacting him.

    Help! Lump on Heifer

I sometimes give the shot behind the shoulder,  instead of the neck.  If it makes a knot it is less noticeable.  Also, the suggestion to use Draxxin instead of LA200 or LA300 by GoYWyo is a good one.  More expensive but better medicine.

Cow Having Hard Time with Hot Weather

I have one black Walks Alone cow that is suffering through our 100 degree plus heat.  She is coming with her 3rd calf.  She has that thick hair coat of a TH carrier.  I am going to clip her, even though her hair is not that long, and see if that helps.  All my other cows, including several Walks...

Breeding recommendations for a Heatwave Cow

I have had good luck with Yellow Repo on cows like yours.  He complements Heatwave, Monopoly genetics.

Political correct or funny names in the show calf industry.

I call the ones I don't like "B.O.", like the one in the White House. LOL

    flex in pastern

I have had a few of those. I think it is a clubby thing because I have never seen it in purebred cattle.

    Portacool system

I have two port a cool units in my calving barn.  The purpose is to keep those hairy, clubby calves born in the July, August cool during 100 plus days.  It works great for that purpose.  I am not sure how the units would work for "keeping hair" but would be would be better than just fans  and...

    Setting up with CIDR's

It is not so much getting first calf heifers to settle than it is to get them to cycle.  CIDRs may help you get them to cycle a bit sooner but you should wait at least 45 to 60 after calving to use them.  Make sure they are in a least a Body Condition Score 5 or better.  Good luck!

    Widest Clubby bull out there?

Just my experience, but No Apologies makes them moderate and wide based and you can use him on clubby cows since is double clean.

    TH FREE MAB calves

I've had seen some very plain MAB's that must have been TH free.  They were tall and leggy, not much to them even out of Charolais and Char X cows.  Great dispositions though.

What to flush Monopoly cow to

Here is a Yellow Repo out of a Monopoly cow.  One of the best I have ever raised.  The cow is bred back the same way and I plan to flush here that way after she calves.  I like the idea of Firewater, too.

    Weaver Leather Catalog

I got one too.  No prices or order information.  Impossible to order anything from it.  Sullivan's catalog has prices and order information.  Very easy to use.  I tossed the Weaver Leather catalog in the trash.

    Well shoot!

It sounds like you would like to sell him as a bull.  If so, then go ahead and put an ad on Steer Planet and see what happens.  You can always make him a steer but once a steer you can't make him a bull.  Good luck!

What to flush Monopoly cow to

I have had good luck using Crimson Tide on one of my Monopoly cows.  He seems to work good on cows that are deep bodied and not too small. Also, if you want some Charolais influence, you might try Yellow Repo.  I just sold a Yellow Repo heifer out of the same Monopoly cow that has to be one of...

What to Look for When Purchasing Frozen Embryos

Dr Elsden, very good information.  Thanks for sharing. Do you have any suggestions regarding the use of IVF embryos or do the same rules apply?

Has anyone seen any MAB x PB Charolais calves?

Congrats! I can see why he got branded.  Good job.

Check out our red Monopoly bull....

Very nice bull but I think the music in the video is distracting.  Just my personal opinion.  The fact that he is TH and PHA free adds to his appeal.  Good luck with him!

What to use on simmi/angus cows

Thanks, Allisonr,  I haven't bred Yellow Repo to any SimAngus yet, just to the dirty (TH carriers) that are out of SimAngus dams but I bet he would work that way.  I saw him as a mature bull at the Cream of the Crop sale when he sold a couple of years ago.  He was very sound and impressive.

What to use on simmi/angus cows

Some of my best cows now in production are either Monopoly or Walks Alone out of SimAngus cows.  The cow in this photo is a Monopoly out of a Nichols Black Destiny 3/4 SimAngus cow.  The calf is a yellow Repo and the cow is bred back the same way.  No Apologies has also worked on my SimAngus cows.
