    Crimson Tide Heifer

Since she got colostrum and is nursing, I bet she does just fine.  I love those Crimson Tide calves.  Good luck!

    two tone club calf bull

I would not use any bull that has Heat wave in the pedigree on first calf heifers and Two Tone's sire, Walks Alone is sired by Heatwave.

    walks alone heifer

I calved out two Walks Alone first calf heifers back in August.  They did a good job raising their calves and are both bred back.

    Hauling heavy bred heifers

I have hauled many heavy bred heifers and cows for up to 10 hours with zero problems.  They do seem to calf a few days early.

    Breeding a reg char cow

May not be that dfferent but I think Walks Alone would work.

Would be nice to see those photos.  Thanks!

    Crimson Tide on Heifers

I don't think he would help a plainer cow.  I used him on clubby heifers, two of which were TH carriers.  I think he adds lots of look, hair and reduces frame. The red and white calf in the photos is out of a Monopoly X Sim heifer that is a TH carrier.  She is bred back to Yellow Jacket but I...

    Crimson Tide on Heifers

Actually, Phil did recommend Crimson Tide to me right here on Steer Planet.  On one of those on-line forums, I asked him what would be a good choice for some of my SimAngus heifers and he recommended CT.  Not sure why they don't promote him more.

    Crimson Tide on Heifers

Thanks.  He is the chubbiest of the three.  Here is a side view of him.  One of the others is solid red like a shorthorn and the other is solid black.

    Crimson Tide on Heifers

I had good luck using Crimson Tide on first calf heifers.  Has anyone else used him on heifers?  I had four that way.  Three were bulls and one was a heifer.  Here is one of the bull calves born Sept 1st out of a Monopoly X Sim heifer.

    DROUGHT & SOME FALL CALVES

Looks like you are doing well considering the extended drought. Nice set of colored calves by the way. Actually, my fall calves are doing great in this cool, dry weather.  No sick calves and they are eating like horses.  Sure wish I could train them to pay the feed bill. lol

I think cow has lumpy jaw? Ship now or 3 months after hopefully calving?

Sounds like your vet thinks it is an infection.  It may clear up on its on since you gave the cow antibiotics.  You may want to check it again in a week or two to see if pus will come out.  Just stick a needle in it squeeze the tissue next to the needle.  If pus comes out then you should lance...

    bumper trailers

I don't think you will like the 5 ft wide trailer very much if you ever have to haul any mature cows or bulls in it.  It would be fine for hauling a few calves.  Also, the resale on the older, 6ft wide trailer may be better than on the newer 5 ft wide trailer since most folks would want a wider...

    TH Proliferation

I didn't say that all good show steers had to be THC.  There are lots of good show steers that are not THC but among the good ones, those that are carriers will rise to the top because they typically have more bone, more power, more moderation of frame, more of what buyers, and ultimately...

    TH Proliferation

The questions should be, 'Can you consistently raise major show winning steers without using TH carrier genetics?'  Of course, the answer is 'no' and that is why there is a proliferation of THC bulls in the industry.

    Simmental Heifer Breeding Questions!

Built Right would be a good choice if your heifer is deep bodied.  I have also used Ranch Hand on heifers with good results and have had many trademarks out of heifers but I don't think he will help that front end.

    Pregnant cow question

It could also be the mucus from the cervical plug.  That starts to break up several weeks before the calf is born and is a normal occurance.

    Calving Ease with color?

I had my Monopoly heifer tested for TH and she is a carrier.  Crimson Tide is not a TH carrier but a PHA carrier.  I also have a couple of Crimson Tide calves out of Walks Alone heifers and they are pretty good.  The only Crimson Tide that is not very good is out of a Who Made Who heifer that is...
