Red Roundup Consignment - Oct 23rd - Red Deer Alberta Canada

Thanks She is a mid Feb and even looks better on the move. Her sire is dead and there is no semen so the few calves we have this year will be it. She will make a great show heifer but an even better cow.

Alpha mannosidosis - old defect returns

Wooowww! Down boy!! I posted that info to get people to think about what is reality etc. I am not replying to any one post in particular but I find that sometimes these forums get a little carried away because there are people from all age categories and everyone has different levels of...

Alpha mannosidosis - old defect returns

The sun is shing and I can't help wonder what is really to be accomplished by all of this he is dirty, she is dirty, he said that, she said that gobblygoop?? What is I said there is no such thing as a geneticly defect free animal?? How about the idea that all animals have genetic defects and...

Alpha mannosidosis - old defect returns

I think I will buy a lab because that is where the real money is!! I am very concerned about the genetic testing in that I also believe there will never be an end to genetic defects. When I hear that the policies come from the breed improvement committe I wonder if what they are doing is truly...

What do you consider "A sure fire calving ease bull?"

I am always concerned about people taking the term "heifer bull" WAY TO FAR. A bull to breed heifers needs to have moderate BW and the right shape but the targeted birthweight's don't need to be less that 75 lbs or so. If you need 65 lb or less birthweights than the problem is pooe genetics in...

    Big Calves ?

Breeding clubby sires to clubby momma's over and over will definitely cause BW to show up. Do yourself a favor, use the right Angus bull. I really think the club calf industry is missing out by not using the right angus bulls from time to time.

Angus for Simmental - Need to clean up Neck

You have got alot of responses but I have a couple more suggestions. I am not sure but I assume your cows are black hided. 1) I would very seriously consider Duff New Generation 6107. He is so impressive right now with the best angus foot I have ever seen and impressive muscle shape. He is still...

    New Generation 6107 calves

Just to let everyone know that the Duff New Generation 6107 calves on club calf momma's are very cool. If you are looking for a bull to soften up your club calf program but still maintain the club calf look, then he may be your answer.

    Hereford sires?

Buy the right semen that matches up well from a phenotype perspective and one that has future marketing possibilities. Price should NEVER be the deciding factor as long as the semen is under $100. Don't spend all that time and energy on an AI program and then select semen based on $$.

    Traveler 004 Heifer

I only have one small comment. Remember that a picture say a thousand words. Do you want those thousand words to be good words? Taking good pictures takes practice but I wouldn't suggest you practice on a heifer you are trying to market. Your heifer may be a pretty good heifer BUT from the...

    Red Blair's Daytona 116U

Thanks. The Brylor semen catalog should be online in a week or so and in the mail after that. I will check on this years price. Brylor sells lots of semen in the US and will have semen in store at Hawkeye Breeders I believe.
