    Clubby Sexed Semen

Well, I found out what I expected from the beginning.  Apex had one bull with sexed semen but it was heifer only for $125/straw.  Rodgers only had BIM for $350/straw....more than I want to spend for a county fair in Idaho.  And Lautner replied to an email and said they could sex semen if I told...

    Clubby Sexed Semen

I'm just looking at my options.  I want steers for my kids' fair animals and nothing else.  The last couple years I have gotten about 75% heifers and I don't want to keep any clubby heifers as replacements.

    Clubby Sexed Semen

Where can one go to find sexed semen for clubby bulls?  I have searched the archives on Steer Planet, but haven't really found a good source.  From what I have read, there aren't a lot of options and it is more expensive.......

    Market show minumum weight??

What is your market show minimum weight to be able to sell?  Our local fair is 1000 lbs. and it seems to be on the lighter end.  My daughter had an extremely short, small framed heifer this year and it weighed in at 1200 lbs.  We did have a steer weigh in at 1068 lbs a couple years ago that did...

    Hip Height- Fair Classes

How do most fairs split up market steers for classes?  Is using hip height very common or mostly by weight?  I have seen both and it seems like hip height allows the judge to compare the calves better and faster, especially in the area of muscle and finish. How exactly is the hip height...

    slaughter weights

You should be able to take the hot carcass weight and divide it by about 63% (plus or minus based on how wasty or not wasty it was)...833/.63=1322#.  I'm not sure what the price difference between choice and select right now, but a couple months ago it was only $5-6 I think therefore, yes...

    slaughter weights

Do you mean the live weight of the animal that you have the hot weight of?  I don't think there is any possible way to tell the mother's weight based on the hot weight of her calf.

    Slick Shear Bulls

What sires do you feel work the best for slick shear shows?  Or does it matter....a good calf is a good calf?  ??? This was a topic on here about three years ago and I got some ideas from the old posts, but wanted to see if things have changed since then.

    Carpe Diem Calf Pics

I like to see pictures of all different types of calves so I'm going to post some of mine.  I have crossbred cows (3/4 Angus) that are going to weigh 1350 lbs or so.  We just started dabbing into AI'ing for our kids to show at our local county fair (which is pretty low key). Carpe Diem Calf
