I posted a picture under calf pics of a bodacious steer out of a wmw simmental cow that weighed 80 lbs.  Had anonther bull calf from a total play grandduaghter weighed 110 lbs. She usually has around a 90 to 95 pound calf.  I really like both calves. Good luck!

We have had great luck with Cool Customer below is a full sibling to the steer.  We sold her to the first person to stop by and see her last fall. Also have a steer we are feeding for the county fair that is coming along great.  Thanks for the comments.

I agree with the Dave Guyer DVD too.  I get it out and re-watch it every now and then.  Also like to watch the big boys at the show but the most important thing i have learned is "clip" and clip as much as you can.  Those guys didn't learn how by talking about it.  Good luck!!

Here is a Jesse James sired heifer born this morning.  I am guessing she is around 75 to 80 pounds.  The dam is a Risky Business on an Angus.  I am REALLY HAPPY with the stoutness and bone she has.  Jesse James is definitely a bull i will use again.  Just want to share her with everyone. THANKS!!!

Thanks for the comments.  I am really happy with him usually one this big has trouble moving but he gets around great.  I think the straightness is just the way the picture was taken.  As for the birth weight the cow normally has a 95 lbs. calves.  The last few years she has been bred to Rocky...

Check the rules of the show you are going to.  Some vary even varies from steers to heifers..  Illinois beef expo allows 1/2 blood Simmental steers as Simmental i believe.  Most show follow what the breed assoc allows for papers.

I went to an two day class through Lake Land Community College (IL) taught by ABS  Rep Stewart James i think.  I started AIing cows a few months later with success.  Very good class to take even if you are not planning on doing the AIing yourself.  Covered alot of heat detection, synchronizing...
