    Breeding suggestions please !

We have two All That Matters calves and are very stout. I would be weary about using him on heifers or even second calvers. Ours weren't monsters but have heard some 100+ pounders.

    Bred the cows yesterday

Used a number of different sires this year  Executive Order, Insight, Final Answer, United, Stock Broker, Settler, Silent Knight, Total Package, Mercedes Benz, and Commander. We will be putting embryos in next week. What are some others using this year for their Simmental and Maine cows?

    Does she need more feed?

No. The best and easiest keeping cows aren't pushed at a young age and are allowed to grow. 12 pounds of what?

    Breeding Simmy shows females

Uprising, High Regard, A Step Up I think could all be good options. I know Stepping Stone had some people very interested in him on this forum. I believe a Wide Range won the Iowa beef expo. The couple wide tracks that we have had have been really clean through that front third and plus he is a...

Breeding suggestion on a MR NLC Upgrade heifer

Bullseye, Uno Mas, Executive Order all hot bulls right now, all calving ease, and it looks like they all keep them sound and add some body. Some options might be eliminated depending on what the cow is out of?

    Breeding ??

The few Star Powers that I have seen have been on the bigger side of things so I would say the mating could end up well for you. Do you have a picture of the cow for reference?

    Best front-end/neck?

The few wide tracks we've had are pretty clean.

    GLS INTEGRATE

These two were deep. The cow is a ground sow which helps. I saw him before he sold and was a stud.

    GLS INTEGRATE

We had two bulls last year out of him. They weren't small when they came out but the cow isn't much on calving ease. They ended up really heavy and long. He will add length and muscle and weight and some frame. He will be good at making some powerful bulls.

    Insight and Ironhide calves

All three of these are half bloods. The Irohides are out of a SAV Net Worth cow. I think the heifer looks better in person and the Ironhide bull was the biggest calf this fall. Thanks for the comments.

    Insight and Ironhide calves

There has been a couple threads on these bulls and I just thought I would share some photos of ours that we will be selling in February. 1st is an Insight and the next two are Ironhide flushmates

    Simmental heifer breeding suggestions

I agree with firesweep that you don't have to use an angus bull. Shear Force is a sure fire heifer safe bull or you could use any number of his sons or grandsons. This year we used WS High Stakes, Hooks Broadway, and W/C Lock Down. Plenty of options out there for you.

    PVF Insight produces bull calves

I had three bulls this year, two flushmates and one single birth. We were heavy on our simmi bull calves this year but we do like them. Going to sell them as bulls. They are correct in their structure, smooth jointed, deep bodied, and still have enough shape to them.

I could use some advice on bull selections!

Just wondering what they are like? We will be flushing to Broadway, One Eyed Jack, and Uprising possibly. We do like the insight X dream on calves we got, unfortunately all bulls.

Is she worth the work? Opinions

I would say she looks pretty structurally correct which is something you can't change or hide. She looks like she could use a touch more belly but that can come in time as she gets further along and bred. It's still really early to be deciding between her and a calf for a state fair trip, but I...

what breed should I use as my original foundation heifers?

I would follow with the Simmental and/or Angus route. If you start with purebreds of both you can always cross with the other one and sell foundation simmis. Multiple options means multiple types of sellers and I think the foundation shows have outnumbered the purebreds that I've noticed.
