Any Highliner calves out there yet?

    Angus defects

I believe the rule in Canada is that beginning in 2010, all calves that have carriers in their parents and/or grand-parents must have their calves tested and they must free of all defects to be allowed to be registered.

    Bojo

What's the latest on Bojo?  I searched here and found some postings from a while back.  I am pretty sure there aren't any calves on the ground yet, but if so, any info about them would be great.

I don't think it's likely, but are there any Highliner calves on the ground yet?  If so, how about size, etc...?

    What is your oldest cow

Currently we have a pair of D cows which are 94 models, which are both on their way out when we wean their calves.  We've got a 95 cow that will be bred for late 2010, likely to WMW or Smokin' Joe.

    Monopoly calving experiences?

Just had our first one today, he was 5 days early, no big deal. Cow fussed a lot and we pulled it with the calving jack, not a tough pull, but there was lot of calf.  I jacked until about 6 inches left on the shaft. Calf was up quick, it's about -5 celsius here today, so that's a help.  I...

We have our Monopoly calves due in the next week or more and we are wondering what the Monopoly calving experiences have been like. Are they coming early, on time, or late? What kind of birthweights are you seeing? Calving ease?  Are they the right shape to calve out easily? Thanks in...

    Alias colours

Just wondering how dominant Alias is in throwing gray/smoke/white calves.  90% of our cows are black.  Does he throw many black ones?

    Calving in the cold weather

A hair dryer works well to warm up a calf if you need to.  Add in an old blanket or sweater to keep the warmth.

New Semex Canada club calf bulls?

Any word what new club calf bulls are available through Semex Canada?  The catalogue came out recently, but I haven't seen a copy and the web site is still showing the 09 lineup. Any word if ABS Canada, Genex, or Select Sires have any new ones in their club calf lineup?

I am looking at purchasing a video camera to use to promote sale cattle on youtube prior to our sale in the fall.  Any recommendations out there on what to get or not to get?  I assume that the youtube ready cameras are the way to go. Any opinions would be appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

    Good semen!!

We have had very good conception rates over the past 3 years, running 80-90 per cent each year.  We've used Stout and Grid Topper with good success rates, including split straws on Stout.  We only used 5 straws of each though.  Monopoly was 2 for 2 for us, although they aren't due until the end...

    Kinda expensive cow!

That cow was born and bred about 20 miles from my place.  I think she had a 3 week old daughter sell this summer for 24000 and a yearling daughter for 26000 at the same sale.  A confirmed heifer pregnancy daughter of her sold for 45000 last Thursday at the Toronto Royal. It's been a big deal in...
