Here in central MI it's raining as I type this. Thunderstorms 2 nights in a row. The ground was frozen so most of it ran off. Tonight I see the puddles are going down fast which means the frost is breaking. It's supposed to freeze up again before the weekend though, which is more than welcome.

To me nothing beats Bud Light in a bottle that is half a degree from freezing, far from a craft beer though.

I'm not bashing fuzzy animals at all, there is nothing better than a sound functional animal with good hair. I just don't think there I a sound enough package under his hair, not bashing the owners, breeders or promoters of him, just giving my opinion like the original post asked

It's pretty easy to follow really, who has a breeding program that produces consistency? It doesn't matter what part of the industry you are in, that's the first place to start.

Looks to me that he is big shouldered, tight hearted, shallow flanked and no lower quarter. But that's why he has hair.

I'm actually hoping they aren't homozygous black. I love good red cows, it's just most of the bloodlines I use aren't red or red carriers. I have a red Steel Force daughter that I am looking to get a red calf out of.

Does anybody know if these two bulls are homozygous black?

As earlier stated, heifer safe. Not a big numbers bull but you will enjoy females out of him. Plenty of depth, easy fleshing low maintenance style cattle. Might not be as showy as some would prefer but good solid genetics anyway. I have a few straws left that I will use on simmy heifers next spring.

There are a lot of sires that changed their own breed for the better. What about those that did more good 10 years later than they did in their lifetime? For me 734 and Who come to mind. What are your thoughts?

Yes they are full sibs, but they produce completely different. Just like Heatwave, his full sibs just don't have what it takes.

Just as SCC said, use him on a cow with some GUTS!  He is an absolute no on heifers!!! I used him on some of our better cows and in my opinion he is just another 734 son.
