    Accusations of cheating at fairs

With all of the problems in our industry, I'm not sure any bad press is a good idea. Especially over something as silly as this. I would handle it in house behind closed doors with the fair board. You can suggest that you are thinking about involving the press to the board and probably get the...

    Soap vs Shampoo

I use the dish soap (Joy) because it's cheap and easy to get . It washes out easily and works fine. However you are correct, it will take some of those natural oils out of the skin and hair. We combat this with the daily use of  some sort of sheen (Kleen Sheen). Also, I would recomend that you...

    Neck Sweating

I like to start about a week before the show especially this time of year due to the heat. We'll use the lotion or something similar a couple days before the show and at the show. But be aware that lotion can cause some flaking of the skin on some animals. Use plenty of Revive on their necks...

    Slick Shearing vs haired shows

When a show starts considering to go to a slick shear format, they in their minds are trying to level the playing field due to complaints of exhibitors who continually get beat by exhibitors who are better than them. I'm close to the person who runs one of the biggest shows in Oklahoma, and we...

    Is she to thick??

Nice calf. No, she is not too thick. She looks plenty feminine to me. As long as she still looks like a lady, I like them with a little added stoutness and thickness. Just my opinion.

    Horse Slaughter facilities continued

This is what scares me about this issue. If PETA and animal rights actavists had the power to get the slaughter of horses stopped in most places and our elected officials are dumb enough to go along with it, then how long until they try to stop the slaughter of all livestock? Even with all of...

    dethroning the king

I would agree. There will be something better than HW come along. It has always happened in the past even with bulls that were cloned. Look at Who made Who and Full Flush both were cloned and probably the best bulls of their time, but now have faded to clubby semi maternal sires. Before them...

    Matertal Breeding Options?

I'm going to recommend Special Resreve. He's a clean Whiskey son that will add hair, bone, and body. Also, he is very sound and his first calves seem to have plenty flex. His mother was a popular Angus champion in OK and is making a great cow, so I'd say he'll make very maternal females.

    Bull to flush to??

If that question is directed towards Special Reserve, he will help improve all of the above mentioned criteria. He's as sound as you can make one in his pastern and hock with a long smooth stride. As for udder and teat size, his mother who was a popular Angus champ in OK has beautiful udder with...

    Bull to flush to??

I may be biased but my bull "Special Reserve" is working well. He's one of the best looking clean Whiskey son's available. If you are thinking of keeping females his daughters are the keeping kind. He's adding hair, bone , and body to his calves. First calves hit the ground in Feb. and they look...
