Thanks BadgerFan.  I agree 100% that it is different for everyone.  I have kindof gone back and forth on which route is best for our operation for a long time.  Just trying to make that decision and roll with it.

Is it best to have a quality cattle, make smart breeding decisions and market one natural calf per cow every year? Or, is it better to have one or two elite females and flush them a few times a year putting embryos in and also marketing the embyros as well?

Simmental Association's online herdbook doesn't show BW on their cattle, so I don't know his BW.  I do know he is getting used more and more in a lot of different herds.  Hopefully someone on here will be able to share more info on him. Good luck.

Could be a number of things I guess, but my first thought would be the AI was not well timed with the heat cycle.  This could keep any sperm from reaching the eggs, therefore giving you all the unfertilized eggs.  Hopefully others will weigh in here as well.  If she averages 28 fertilized eggs...

You have to look at both, but you can buy some of the best bulls out there for $20/straw.  You can't buy the best female in the business for that.  Choose your sires wisely, but work hard to build a foundation of quality cow families and your hard work will pay dividends for years to come.
