    Ethics

I wouldn't care if I had millions of dollars laying around, there is no way I would spend $60,000 on a steer.  I wouldn't speed $5,000 personally on a steer but I'm not into steers I like the heifers.

    I-80

The Maine Association has I-80 listed as scurred but I think he is polled, both his sire and dam and grand sire and grand dam on both sides are all polled.  Bodacious is polled but his sire Bojo is scurred also.

    Semen Prices on New Bulls

That is true about the calf being out of the original or the clone, you see a lot of clone semen selling but you don't see many clone sired calves being sold.  It doesn't really matter to me if it's original or clone it's the same genetic make up and if you are showing in a crossbred steer class...

Call Lance Ellsworth at cattle visions he might be able to tell you something,  I have one coming in a couple of months, but that doesn't do you much good.

    Question - Registering Maines

The cow doesn't have to have any Maine in to register her calf as Maintainer.  You are correct that the calf would be a 3/8 Maintainer.

    Semen Prices on New Bulls

All I'm saying is in my personal situation I am not willing to buy high priced semen on an unproven bull.  When you get right down to it those new bulls might not ever produce a winner.  I know that's not always the case but you see alot of bulls in semen catalogs that you don't hear much about...

    Semen Prices on New Bulls

I agree with DiamondCattleCo, I wouldn't bat an eye to breed to a proven bull at $40 to $50 but to buy semen on an unproven bull is to risky for me.  Spending $600 for 10 straws of an unproven bull or getting 20 straws on one that I know works, I think that's an easy decision.  This day in age I...

    Dakota Gold

They were around $60 a straw last time I looked, and that is to much for a new bull in my opinion.

    Semen Prices on New Bulls

What is the deal with all these new bulls bringing $40 and up for semen.  I'm all about trying something new and different but I can't afford to pay $50 or $60 a straw to A.I. with for an unproven bull.  It used to be and I'm talking a year or two ago that a new bull comes out at $20 to $30 a...

    6.0 Powerstroke?

We have two 03 6.0 Fords at work and I wouldn't p*** on them if they were on fire.  Two of the worst trucks I have ever been around.  By the time they had 100,000 miles on them they had a total of 5 turbo's and 8 injectors between them.  And the best part is that neither one of them pulls...

    Breeding Suggestions

I agree unstopable is good choice with your cows being half blood maines and unstopable being half blood as well you could make steers or heifers with him.  If your leaning more toward the maines I would say Hard Drive, GVC Suh, or Predator.  If your looking at crossbreds then the choices are...

    Talladega

I see where it shows him to have a 90 pound birth weight but his brother Tuscaloosa has a 100 pound birth weight.  I looked up some of Tuscaloosa's calves and the are everywhere on birth weight, from in the 60's up to 110 plus,  I saw several over the 100 mark, which on big shorthorn cows 100...

    Hard Whiskey Semen Price

I was shocked at the price of Hard Whiskey semen on the steerbidder.com sale.  It basiclly averaged $200 a straw for an unproven bull, that is amazing to me.  Don't get me wrong I love his look and his pedigree but $200 a straw all I can say is WOW!!!

fitting up a year old heifer for a show in may

Just wondering, what's the reason for that 2%? 2% is what was recomended by our feed mill, it is also what my in-laws hay been feeding to their show heifers for the past 20+ years.  I haven't had any problems with my heifers not being in show condition feeding them at 2%.
