    some one talk me down!

I'm not the ag teacher but I was the first person he called when the incident occurred. Considering our program is in the city and we have total of 5 kids with cattle projects its kind of hard to not be somewhat involved. I donate as much time as I can to try and keep FFA going in our area as...

    some one talk me down!

Sizzler I think you hit the nail on the head. You read between the lines. I say this because I didn't mention the fact that the mother failed to see that the boy had done anything wrong. Actually was inferring that it had to be someone else's fault. The way the fence was made, improper teacher...

    some one talk me down!

I will preface the following by stating i am already biased towards the young man of whom i will speak. Last year a young man in our ffa was kicked out do to the fact he tried to get a teacher fired over false accusations all because the teacher would not attend an event that he wanted to. The...

    Feeding a bull?

Thanks cowboy nyk. Yes we do plan on him breeding. That's why I'm trying to get as much knowledge as I can so we keep him looking as "showy" yet capable of still being a good productive bull. I've learned from other people's mistakes with getting show heifers to fat and causing problems. We keep...

    Feeding a bull?

I have searched and read a little on some past post but was still coming up with questions. We have a 6 month old bull that we just weaned. Currently we are feeding him developer ration and hay. We are planning on showing him a little. My question is at what age should we change from a developer...

New hereford bull calf. What are your thoughts on his progress?

Just pulled the bull calf from his mother. I was pretty pleased. He weighed 725 @ 181 days. Not a chart topper but solid I thought. Hope to get a few updated pics shortly.

Hereford question. Best bull to breed to Reload daughter?

We have a nice heifer calf out of THM Durango who's a proven calving ease bull. I'm glad to hear reports that true grit is throwing some nice calves. We have a first calf heifer due to him mid October.

Any riots or civil unrest yet? NC

Yes as awful as it might seem to some profiling happens everyday. It's nature not just human nature. A bear walking through a field or woods maybe meaning no harm but anything that could be harmed by it goes on alert. I'm guilty of it and anyone who says they're not are lying to themselves. I...

Any riots or civil unrest yet? NC

I'm not saying anyone's feelings are right or wrong. I like earlier posts think that the problem never would have reached the point it did had he not got out of his car. This being said I believe once it got to that point he was defending his self. My biggest problem lies in what the young man...

    Few pics of hereford cow

A while back a posted a pic of a bull calf and had some people ask for pic of his mother. She had a partial pic with him. Got a couple of her today with phone so they're not the best. Her calf is next to her in some of the pics. Not sure why but photos came out upside down I will try to fix.

New hereford bull calf. What are your thoughts on his progress?

The thought never crossed my mind to post pics of the cow. She's a nice cow a little narrow right off the back end. I think that is more because of her overall build it makes her butt look smaller than it might be. Once I get some pics of her I will be glad to post them. Thanks for the...

New hereford bull calf. What are your thoughts on his progress?

Thought I would add a pic of one of our heifers. She's about 6-7 weeks old in the picture. I think my daughter is going to show her at some jack pot shows in our area.

New hereford bull calf. What are your thoughts on his progress?

He is out of a Grassy Run cow sired by Star Moneymaker. We are thinking about keeping him a bull to breed with. He isn't related to anything else we have. My daughter would like to show him at state fair possibly. The cow in the back is his mom.

New hereford bull calf. What are your thoughts on his progress?

He is a first part of march bull calf. Just wanted to share the pic. Updated: pulled him from mom last Wednesday. Demeanor is great. By Friday my daughter had walked him washed him dried him and we gave him a rough clip job. Not standing exactly right for good pics kind of has his back feet...

What do you think of Fort Worth Steer Show?

i am someone who has a daughter who showed a heifer at fort worth this year. We had a great experience finishing middle of our class. With that being said we had a class of less than 20. I took time to go back to watch the first day of the steer show as I had not been to a major steer show in...

    Cyrus (Hereford)

A boy in our FFA had a steer from him this year. Puppy dog gentle fair eye appeal but was very large framed. He got to 1400 lbs and was not finished out. Kind of same take as early post might be great on some cows but not a home run on the one I was around.

    neck sweats

Definitely go leather. Tried the new style this year with my daughters laid back hereford heifer. In two weeks she had it shredded. Decided to scratch caught it on a rough edge and that was the end of it. Went back to the leather and no problems since.
