    Favorite Hereford Bull

BR DM  l1 Domino 146 is a bull that has been around awhile with some success. He has sired numerous winners both heifer and bulls. He seems to be a lot stronger producer of heifers however. Of course I bred one of my registered Hereford cows to him hoping for a nice replacement heifer and wound...

    new calf

Here are a few pictures my dad took with him standing a hour or so after he was born. He was still not sure about his new legs.

    new calf

We had a new arrival this Friday morning. He's sired by Domino146 and his mom is a Wrangler grand daughter. We could notget the best pics because he had been up eating before Icould get the kids out to see him so he had a full belly.

    descriptions for dummies

I am the dummy in question. I am always seeing the terms deep and soggy referring to animals on here. I believe I have an idea of what this means by using a little common sense (even though my wife thinks I lack any sense at all most of the time, but that's a whole other post). My question is...

    What to breed her to?

I noticed after looking at Carpe Diem that he was a carrier and do want to stay clear of  any known carriers. I have limited numbers as well as limited experience compared to most of the people I see on here, so the fewer potential problems the better. Thanks for all of the suggestions and would...

    What to breed her to?

Can Carpe Diem be registered as percentage anything? Mainly for purposes of showing a heifer offspring.

    What to breed her to?

I have a registered Hereford cow due any day and need to begin thinking of who to breed her to. Leaning at staying Hereford but not ruling out other options. She is a Wrangler 19D granddaughter. Any suggestions as to what produce the best resulting offspring is appreciated. I always lean towards...

    What results can I expect?

Considering where she started at I am somewhat pleased with how she turned out. She not a show winner but has had a lot of love and care from my daughter. Picture is when she was about 4 or 5 weeks old.

    What results can I expect?

I just a.i.ed our heifer to Northern Improvement. What kind of results does anyone think I can expect to see?

    Calf Pics

How big was the Northern Improvent calf? I just had an Angus heifer A.I. ed to him. Heifer was about 950-1000 lbs. I am most concerned with this being a safe pregnancy because this heifer is the first one my daughter raised from birth. Needless to say she has a tight bond with her.

    Next Year's 4H Steer, maybe....

Who is the sire? I have a Hereford cow due any day and am looking for good Hereford bull options. Like the calfs stout look. 130 lbs. would make me nervous, most everything we have is sub 100 lbs at birth. I know climate can play a role in that and I am a few miles further south of you (Texas).

    cow vs. heifer a.i

I am new to using a.i. with my cattle so I have a question. I don't know if it is a reasonable question but here it is anyway. Is a cow or a heifer more likely to be successful on a.i. . Or does it go like most things related to cattle and just depend on the animal its self. I have a cow that...

How did everyone fair in Houston?

I know there has been a lot of talk good and bad about certain people winning and  I am sure this won't help how some feel about everything , but Justin James of Prosper just won the chi champion. It does not affect me either way, just found it interesting with all of the talk that preceded the...

    A.I. technicians

I am located about 30 miles north of Dallas in Grayson county Texas and for the life of me I can not track down a technician reasonably close that will handle my animals. I only have 2 at this time that I need to be bred. Any suggestions on how to find a good technician. I had one recommendation...

    Bulls on front porch!

We have had this happen ourselves. Imagine opening the front door because someone (something) is knocking and to my surprise it's our bull. He decided the wreath on the door looked like a good snack (that was the knock). We have also had a couple of young calves find refuge on the front porch...

    North Texas Cows

These cows are about 30 miles north of Dallas. They had been hiding out in the barn all day but came out to eat. They are a little more spoiled than the cattle I have been seeing and reading about from the north. We are on the verge of setting a record for one day of snow. You got to love Texas...

What to breed cow and heifer to?

OH Breeder thanks for the comments. The cow definitely needs more across the top as well as probably everywhere else. She has had 3 Angus and one Limmi calf. The heifer also needs some top as well as some other cleaning up. I know that these are not high end animals thus I am trying to breed up...
