Offering Embryo Transfer Services in Ohio

Just wanted to add a bit of information to Dr. Ervin's post here... I met Dr. Ervin through this board several months ago.  We've visited about embryo transfer, the veterinary practice, breeds of cattle, and the cattle world in general.  He's even been gracious enough to trouble-shoot a couple...

    SAV Mustang

Very limited experience, but I will share it. We have 1 Mustang heifer out of a former state fair champion show heifer.  Calf is good boned, sound, broody, very quiet disposition.  I like her, I just might make her a little prettier.  She's a bred right now. She followed her mother in many...

    Harvest 2k13

Central Nebraska. Came into the growing season extremely dry....Early spring rains were excellent, but the skies shut off in July and early August.  Despite all of that, record high yields. Irrigated soybeans up to 80+ BPA. Dry soybeans up to 60 BPA. Irrigated corn really strong...heard...

    NCAA Football upsets

I've been quietly lurking, but have to add my 2 cents. I will agree with the majority that from top to bottom, the SEC is probably the toughest conference out there. Here's where my opinion differs.  I think the distance between the top 3 or 4 teams in the SEC vs. the top 3 or 4 in the other...

Irish Whiskey x Dream On ?????

We flushed a Legacy (Dream On's sire) daughter to Whiskey.  Only have two calves so far.  The bull is a spring...looks good and will make the bull cut.  The heifer is a fall baby and looks nice right now too.  Probably worth a try, I'd say.

at the end of the rope

There's the old business adage....The customer is always right.  I know it's sometimes hard to swallow this in the any business, but if you don't take care of your customer, they won't be back.  And they will tell plenty of others about their problems.  There are just so many other choices out...

at the end of the rope

It's very hard for me to believe that a prominent operation wouldn't make this right with you.  Negative publicity from a disgruntled buyer is certainly one of the worst things that can happen to any operation. Flat out ask to return him and see what happens.

    Multi-Min 90 Questions

How many folks are now using multi-min 90?  I searched the topic and found a few results, but thought that I'd start a new thread.  If you are using it, when do you see as the most beneficial times? Are there any stages when it is not recommended? Can it be given a few hours after birth when...

    Bigger calves than normal?

Calves look nice. Our fall ET's have all been about a week longer gestation.  One Broker bull in the low 90's...rest of the calves in the high 70's and 80's.  Calving falls is always so much less stressful than the springs....

Help - calf with ear infection

Maybe I'm missing something or setting myself up for ridicule here, but this type of "ear down with discharge" is quite, quite common with any type of respiratory issue with calves.  See it often.  Have never, ever treated the ear, as it seems more of a secondary issue.  I would compare it to...
