AI bulls II: The sires of REI in Stillwater, OK

I may be one of those "Purebred Breeder" but I would ask, why would anybody NOT want to know what the bull looks like mature? True, you are breeding for the look at that yearling age, but they are still cattle, there are still heifers out there that will enter the cow herd. Why would we...

Wanted: cattle breeders interested in forming marketing connection.

Beach Limousin has spent the last 24 years breeding Limousin genetics based on performance, eye appeal, and carcass qualities. As with a lot of family farms, we have fed butcher calves and sold the carcasses. Over the last several years we have created a demand greater than we can supply alone...

Best part of Oklahoma to raise cattle

We live in N.E. Oklahoma on 240 acres that we run Reg. Limi Cattle on, and have since 1984. We run +/- 40 head cows, and there yearling calves and raise enough grass to graze from March 1- Usually Nov 1. Al of our ground is creek bottoms though, so pretty fertile ground.

    EPD question..

We do use EPD's to an extent. BW, Growth and Carcass numbers are all good key indicators; however, we only consider them in context with there actual performance. We cannot use a bull that does not have performance data, because epd's alone does not insure the traits we are seeking were passed...

    Would you fudge on age?

Personally, I don't change ages, but I know some do. The way I think, I want to know how the calf performs. Our show heifers usually become our donors of the future, so if I need to change there birthdate a month to make them the right age, then I am going to haft to change there calves two...

    Ultrasound Info

When I am looking a bulls to use (keep in mind I like limi cattle) I like to see the adj. scans so that i know all data is calculated at the same number of days. I like to see big ribs and a moderate IMF. and the rest is usually in sequence. Just my opinion Cody Beach Limousin

Poll question #1 about open jackpot shows

When we started out showing 15 years ago, we always said there was one thing we could control showmanship. Still today, no matter how good the calf is a person can still place or win something if the work is done before hand. We always showed in showmanship and it was a bonus for us to attend...

    Limi's

After 13 years of messing with limi hair, it can and will make u pull ur hair out. With all of ours I start out by rinsing them, then take a stiff rice root brush and brush the hair until dry. Do this every day or every other day for a few weeks and it gets pretty easy to deal with. That is the...

    Feeding Schedule

While it depends on the calf, but my experience with traveling long distances it is better to feed them 1/2 feeding or none. Personally, I have not had much luck feeding full feeding the night before we leave. Prefer to 1/2 feeding, no feed the morning of travel but as much hay as they can fit...

Bulls to help me reach my goal.

I have not seen a ton of the triple x calves but I did see several in the spring at ZNT's place. They looked good and seemed to feed well. I have a friend that has two Triple X calves this fall, and they are both growing like weeds. Seems to work pretty good.
