We own and operate 240 acres, with 40 cows, 10 replacement heifers, 1 herd sire prospect, and 1 proven herd sire (all Limousin). We a.i. around 70 percent of the herd, and use the bull on the rest. We bale around 100 acres of others people's land on a 70/30 split. My dad is an electrician, and...

Should i feed brewers grain or not.

We also have a surplus supply of brewers grain. We feed our show calves 3% of there body weight on average. We substitute 20% of there feed with the brewers grain. We have just been doing this for about 3-4 months but it has worked so far. We do notice more spring and guts in the calves with the...

As a college student who is attending a community college, I could not imagine walking into a class with as many students as I graduated with. That is me, but it is up to your son. Obama Nation

I must state first that I was cheering for either one: however, there was one candidate that said somethings that just sounded like common sense, and he won. 1) Working with health insurance companies to eliminate lifetime expectancies and preexisting conditions. This may not be a big deal to...

    Bull for Limousin

As a limi breeder, I have seen a lot of Rulon and Carousels Pure Power limflex over purebred limi's that have worked in some clubby situations.

what do you think of this ration?

That is a lot of barley, but might work. I prefer a lot of wet molasses. We have our feed mixed to where it turns stiff when it gets cold. Calves seem to eat it better, again just my experience. We also have a lot of oil to raise the fat to around 5%.

    The NEW Heat Detection System

Yes, as long as you are in range of the cow unit you can reset it while she stands in the pasture. Also, there is a function you can turn on if you wish that will automatically reset the count if there is not more than one stand in four hours, but that is completely optional.

    The NEW Heat Detection System

Our system differs from the HeatWatch System in the fact that all the information is retained on the cow unit so the system can be used anywhere anytime. We have used this system for about 14 years on our cattle with outstanding results. We designed this system for the herds that were trying to...
