    January calves

    we calve most of our cows in that January to March range, so i have shown steers and heifers with lots of success at the regional 4-H show that is held the second week in July. Watch what time of the year you decide to push the calf, or to let them coast.

    Jersey Nursing everything

    We kinda do this but instead of heating a fence staple, take some chain about 3-4 links and a gate latch or clip, to clip the chain to the nose ring.

    2012 Canadian 4-H Steer

    Thanks, he wasn't my first choice, I was planning on taking a blue roan half brother to this steer, but attitude was an issue. He is pictured below along with the sire of both calves.

    Blow and Go show

    We usually use Zoom Bloom or Pop and Bloom (both pink),  then blow in on one jet. then before we go in the ring spray final bloom over the whole animal including head.

    The Ultimate Feed Lot Steer

    I believe that the best feedlot steer is one who is a cross between a British and an Exotic. We have been using shorthorn Simmental cross steers (1/2, 3/4, 7/8) for many years.
