    Pa Do Suds

Thanks for the information. I'm looking for a bull that is thick, with some size, but I still need calves my kids can show at the county Fair. I've heard the Pa Do Suds name, just didn't know much about him.

    Pa Do Suds

Pa Do Suds was brought up on a post recently. I have to admit when this bull was promoted I really didn't pay much attention to cattle. What we're is strengths/weakness? Did he make good cows? Just wanting to know more about his influence.

Where have all the readers/posters gone?

I've been reading posts on here for 3 or 4 years. I don't post much, but read about every thread that gets started. I am a Shorthorn enthusiast. I grew up with them, and still have some today. A large amount of the posts on here seem to revolve around shorthorns- good for me, but it does limit...

    Genetic defects

My understanding is the marbleing tests for the Wagyu breed, do not work with other breeds. I also doubt that marbleing in a one gene trait.

    JT President 5B (Kaper 4508)

Just from pictures, he looks to be longer spined and deeper in his quarter than Kaper 4508.

    Heritage Shorthorn Society

Do the big dairies have internal labs for the testing, or is it all outsourced through an asssocian/council? Do they have different tests for the different dairy breeds? Just out of curiosity. The beef breeds appear to have different tests, although I would theorize that they are all based off...

    Heritage Shorthorn Society

I don't know a thing about the Dairy's registry or system, so for clarification.. Is the traditional genetic evaluation equal to phenotypic evaluation? Like traits that can be observed- color coat, udder structure, animal weight, etc.. And their genomic test would be a subset of their...

    Red angus

The main reason for these associations (to manage the a registry), has been shifted to Digital Beef. For registration we could just use Digital Beef, and the Associations could then just focus on their pet projects. Digital Beef can partner with GeneSeek (Neogen), and do all the DNA testing for...

A new calving ease Shorthorn sire

That sucks. Not the update anyone wants to hear. Good luck with the embryos. He looked like a good bull, and sounds like he was doing the right thing, the breed needs more of those.

A new calving ease Shorthorn sire

Any updates on Bar Code, how his offspring look/perform? How does he look now, since this is an older post?

    Old Maine Bulls

I was young when the ASA opened up the books, and let Maines in. IMO I think it helped to improve the Shorthorn herd. I think it is very important to note that the ASA had a policy, and this helped to keep the records straight- or as straight as people wanted to be. Other than some Natives, and...

    Old Maine Bulls

Doc, Do you know if Yukon got into the ASA before they changed the rules pertaining to incorporating Maines? You have posted some impressive pictures of Yukon, but if he isn't a "Legacy" Maine, it's not very advantageous to use anything outside of Shorthorn (if you are wanting purebred...

    ASA genetic tests

Newest policy was just posted today. The ASA will accept TH, PHA, and DS results from Agrigenomics or GeneSeek. They are now both priced the same, except the ASA will charge $3 per sample to enter data from AgriGenomics.

    Old Maine Bulls

I think I have around 20 units, I used some a few years ago for a flush. Someday I hope to have some extra cows to put them in. It has more info on the straws, but I don't like to handle them if I absolutely don't have to. I know a lot about Sir Destiny. My Dad raised him, and we traded bulls...
