Heatwave still king, wins another major N.A.I.L.E 2012

It would seem like it is so simple and easy to prove what is going on. AK-SAR-BEN has noseprints and/or DNA on file of every steer that showed there.... so how exceedingly simple it will be to prove or disprove this allegation. The noseprint/DNA from AK-SAR-BEN is obtained and compared to the...

    Clubby bulls and C Sections

Have had no problems with either Walks Alone or Monopoly....remember, Monopoly is half Angus if that makes you feel better about his potential calving ease. The theory behind the larger birth weights when it is colder is that to keep warm, the cow's body pumps blood through the core of their...

    Draxxin, Micotil, Nuflor

DL, would you address the problem in Nuflor of killing the appetite? We used Nuflor way back when it came out and it seemed like it really killed the appetite of the animal we treated which is opposite of what you want of course. We love Draxxin; $400/bottle, doesn't matter. You get what you...

    Montecito calves ?

the commercial guys out here won't buy white legged bulls..... they want to keep all the black on their calves they can. pretty sure it is all about demand at the sale barn; the feedlots like those large uniform sets of solid black calves.

    Montecito calves ?

We had six born last March. Two are solid black really great bull prospects. All of the calves are growthy, stout, big topped, big ribbed but if there is a drawback to this bull, be sure and use him on solid black cows for a generation or two; he will color them up with white legs, white belly...

    Judge underestimated my steer...

some years ago, we played the carcass shows pretty hard; it is almost always without exception impossible for a judge to pick out which steer will hang the best carcass because it is impossible for a judge to estimate marbling of the meat which dictates quality grade.  a judge tried to do this...

Scary event at the vet apt.

last fall consigned a Walks Alone x pb Simmi steer to a sale; had to take him in to get a TB test done; vet injected the TB under the tail and opened the headgate.... when the calf came out, he wouldn't step on his back leg. turned out the vet had not let off enough squeeze on the chute and...

    upcoming feed costs

Feed costs for what? I read an article the other day written by a guy in Ohio that said that this maybe the time to buy bred cows.....that the cows in Ohio will be fed the best that they have ever been fed because of all the available silage that is being cut; lots and lots of silage being cut...

    Simmental registration question

along with having Monopoly registered as a foundation sire with the ASA, they will not send you papers until the TH test results are sent to them; you will however get an online pedigree, an ASA #, but no paper until that test is complete. I just checked for you, Monopoly is registered as a...
