    Lutalyse question

Use a cidr. 5 day or 7 day protocol. I have had the best luck with closing up my calving window that way.

    PVF-J Rookie Sim bull

I have seen several pasture tested Rookie daughters. They looked to be good mothers. If she looks good she would be in my keep pen.

    Registered and Purebred Question

If the embryo's are out of a cow you own then you have to start somewhere. If they were purchased then I see your point, but most people look at the pedigrees, and the animal. I look at the pedigrees and go from there. My advice on cows is do not get crazy with names. Keep a common name for that...

Using CIDRs to Improve Pregnancy Rates

Haven't heard about that and personally for the risk of infection and stress on the cows I will not try it.

Using CIDRs to Improve Pregnancy Rates

The original CIDR's had more progesterone than needed and many people used them twice. Myself included. I was there when the initial testing was done before the product was released to the public. Of the thousands of cattle they have been used on the average conception rate on timed AI was 70%...

    Mind bender

After talking to josh I think that this bull would work on a variety of cows. I think for me the attraction was most due to his dam. I think the best mating would be on cows that have a little sim in them. I don't think he will add or subtract frame. I think he may add some milk but not take any...

    Always Looking Ahead

It does vary some by area also on type of flush. Embryo freezing varies from 50 to 100 dollars as does implanting them. Actuall embryo's can vary massively from 200 to 2000 when buying them individually or in a package deal. If this dosen't answer your questions pm me and I will see what I can do

    Always Looking Ahead

I should learn to read better:) I would not worry as much about the birth weight on a second calf(but don't get to crazy). I also didn't comprehend that you will be putting embryos in cows not heifers, since they will have raised their first calves. I would check on what the birth weight of the...

    Always Looking Ahead

Heifers are Dumb! They more often than not have more trouble getting a calf on the ground, letting it nurse etc. If I am going to put an egg in that cost me pretty dearly I want an experienced mother that knows what to do from having done it successfully in the past, and can have the calf with...

    Mind bender

He was $30 at Ohio Beef Expo. It was also said on here earlier that Josh had the reputation for being helpful and kind. That is correct. He is super nice guy and was really helpful. After talking to him I had a better understanding of what to use him on. I will do business with him in the future.

    Always Looking Ahead

If you were wanting recips they should have plenty of milk. If you are wanting to AI them for replacements I would recommend any DUFF, or OCC Bull to help add some keep. As far as Simmental Uno Mas, STF Shocking Dream or Goldmine. I would warn you that using heifers as recips can be trying at...

    Stacked Deck

I like the looks of him to. He should be a good option on heifers. I have a few legend females and really like them. They keep well and milk well. This bull will probably cut frame size but he should not be a pud either. I would use him on larger framed harder doing females, and may do so myself.

New design 878 and 9fb3 fullback

I can only speak from my experience. 878 worked the best of the two on my cows. Fullback did not click well with the couple of cows I bred him to. I still have cows in my herd from 878. He did the best on cows out of Nichols Legacy G151.

    Newbie Looking to get started

My simmental x angus cows are by far my best cows. They will perform well. You can always put a shorthorn or a Maine bull on them. I agree with others that a solid base herd is a must. My advice is go with a proven maternal bull. For instance uno mas. Just don't make the mistake I did at first...

Bulls that sired the "meanest" calves

For me EXT. his daughters were the worst I had ever seen. I actually saw one almost get into a pickup over the side. Without heavy resistance from the guys inside pretty sure she woulda made it. Maybe just me but all of them seemed to have fuzzy ears. I was at a sale a couple of years and was...
