    Dilutor Gene in Simmy Heifer

You might think about breeding her to a red non diluted bull. She at least should throw a red calf and not a chocolate or gray. Just a thought.

Angus Bull to Add Rib and Depth

Duff Hobart, New Edition, most OCC bulls would likely fit your needs.

    Yearling bull

I go by the rule of one for each month of age. So a 12 month old bull = 12 cows and so on. There will be some disagreement with this I am sure, but is a good rule to go by up to age 2. Then I think you could jump the number to 30. You can put a yearling on more but it will typically spread your...

    Too much belly

I do agree the artificial belly, goes a bit far. I do admit there may be little hard data to back up capacity in cattle being a factor. But look at every easy keeping cow that still raises a good calf and she will have guts. So maybe this observation has carried over into the show arena, but...

    Bull I purchased

Doesn't look to bad to me. I might like to deepen him up a little especially in his rear flank, but overall from what I can see he looks pretty good. JTM is right you could have done a whole lot worse. Plus he is at an age where many of the bulls look a whole lot rougher.

    Too much belly

I want capacity in the females. I do not understand why they say she has to much. She needs room to intake enough feed to maintain her body weight while raising a calf, and or carrying a calf. By that pic she looks good.

    Homemade Cooler Room

You might look around and see if you can find where someone has tore out a walk in cooler. Some of those units were panels that you bolted together. They are easy to disassemble and reassemble. I have seen one used this way. They used an ac from a mobile home. These are easy to find and will...

    Wow people are out there

XBAR you are correct. But I do think educating young people to make a educated decision, and understand all that is invested is the best way to combat the ignorance I saw in those comments. It greatly disappoints me to see adults make comments about that young girl. Sounds like she did a good...

    Wow people are out there

The education has got to focus on kids. Even in a rural area kids don't understand the issues people with livestock face. They need to understand for instance that a farrowing crate is not used because we want to be mean to the sow. It's so she doesn't kill her young by laying on them or...

Our Monopoly x Built Right bull calf

As long as there were no calving issues and he wasn't a monster bw I would leave him a bull. He looks sound and if he keeps growing well you might even talk a couple of commercial folks into using him to pretty up and power up some cows. Nice Bull.

    Sexed Heifer Semen Bulls

I know of one breeder who has had really good luck with UNO MAS sexed semen. He said he noticed very little difference if any on natural heats. Also said he had about a 10% drop off on synched cattle.

    DUFF Palermo

Has anyone used this bull on heifers, or at all? I have a couple of cows that he might work with. Just wanted some imput.

Discussion: Who is the best Calving Ease bull?

Coleman Regis should meet the criteria for Angus, or Final Answer. Simmental UNO MAS or Goldmine. These are all proven Bulls.

    Bull Opinions?

That is a really nice calf! Hard to find much to change about him. You should be proud. What is he out of?

    ringworm

Both examples I saw a billy was bought, kept for a year by one farm and two by another then resold. The bully was able to run in the entire barn. They do smell and are a pain in the butt. I would say it was worth it if you get the same results they did. Oh, remember to worm the goat and trim his...

Nice calf. It will be interesting to see what happens in the next couple of months.

    HFM First Impression

I really like that calf. He might make a really good herd bull. I wouldn't cut that one yet JR. Especially if it is out of the angus cow I like so much.
