Help please, what the heck is it and what do I do for it!!!!

Welcome to the wonderful world of RINGWORM.  It is horrible this year.  Has gone through our show team barn with a vengeance.  Lots of different opinions on this.  We have always used Foot Fungus spray or ointment like Lotrimin or generic.  Wear gloves, because you can get it too.  Get the scaly...

    hillbilly classic

I remember that heifer, she is very nice.  Lots of tough competition though.  What breed is she.  Are you from Arkansas. Yes, it is a two show weekend, with a jackpot the first day,  with different judges and different showmanship judges.  They have been doing this for years.  But recently it...

    hillbilly classic

My kids showed both days.  Had fun, always a long.  My son has a small english commercial heifer and won his class both days.  My daughter won reserve champion exotic commercial heifer both days.  Day 2 was interesting as far a oral reasons were concerned. I guess the judge was a man of few words.

    steer roaching back

Thanks for all the replies.  Will try the massage and have his feet checked.  We started thinking back and we really started noticing it after he got his hooves trimmed, which was right before show season started for us.  We will check into a different trimmer. Thanks again

    steer roaching back

He does not have a roached back when standing, stands straight and true.  It is just when you put him on the move, and is better when walking with his head or or moving fast.  Tends to roach when traveling slow, or stop and start.  One judge said he reaches to far up under himself when walking...

    steer roaching back

We have a very heavily muscled 13 month old show steer that is starting to roach some when walking, especially if walking slow with head down.  When he picks up the pace it is much better, but in the show ring you have no control over the person walking in front of you.  He used to walk like a...

Thanks for the reply.  How do you get all the paint and stuff out after the show, adhesive remover like hocus pocus?  Thanks

sunless tanning spray used on hair

I did not see it being done, but the best I can guess is it darkens the hair slightly (I know it will do this to human hair).  Maybe they were using on the underbelly to look deeper, or to visually sculpt a particular shape?  We have a smokey steer and are trying to figure out how to build the...

sunless tanning spray used on hair

Was at a show this weekend and some of the steer jocks were spraying smokeys with sunless tanning spray and on blue roans too.  Ever heard of such a thing? Thanks

    Winners and new calves

The whole Melson family is top notch.  Jeff is a great fitter.  I know he had a great time fitting at State Fair, and was very pleased with the final results.  He and his sister fit the calves they sell, and our calves always look great on show day.
