Selling embryos from "carrier" Angus donor cows

Appreciate all the comments thus far.  I am certainly listening to each and every response.  I'm totally torn on this deal.  I understand the negative aspects...but also am aware of the potential positive outcomes as well. Thanks.

Selling embryos from "carrier" Angus donor cows

Reputation is worth everything! Plus, I want our customers to be satisfied and make money.  If their E.T. calf ends up a carrier, there's a pretty good chance they won't make alot of money or be satisfied... From a couple of the responses, I gather that some feel it's crazy to put in embryos...

Selling embryos from "carrier" Angus donor cows

I have been approached by a couple people interested in purchasing embryos from Fawn Calf positive Angus donor cows.  I am struggling with fair options if we were to price such embryos.  I know that some people would think this wouldn't be worth the hassle.  However, these are some donor cows...

    Creep Feeding

We have not been big on creep feeding for years...the last two years, we started in late July on our two poorer pastures.  Takes our calves forever to get interested in the feed though.  Back when we used to creep most of them, the transition during weaning was smoother.

    Favorite Calf!

This is one of my favorite calves that we've ever raised...pictured at about 16 months old and as a calf.  She's a Steel Force out of our Independence donor cow.  We raised her to weaning and our partners on the donor (WRS on this board...) developed her from weaning....She's a beauty...

ET Calf born 28 days early!

We're in Nebraska...temp when the calf was born was warm (95 degrees), but it hasn't been an ungodly warm summer...pretty much normal.  I don't think I can blame it on any type of weather extremes. Little dude is doing well and was kicked out to a small pasture on Sunday.

ET Calf born 28 days early!

Ok, folks...follow me on this. Purebred Simmental embryo implanted on 12/26/10.  Calculating gestation at 283 days, that makes her calf due on September 27th,  if my figures are correct.  Her implant tag from the embryologist had a due date of September 24th. Of course I didn't have her in...

Simmental bull NLC Upgrade at Genex

We had our first Upgrade born on the place Sunday.  Recip cow was several days past due and was a carryover open from the prior spring (shifted back to fall herd)...I know, not supposed to do that, but she got a break! We had induced her due to being past due.  The calf was presented upside...

    Tough day

Life on the farm really bites sometimes...the "death" part in particular. Nothing upsets me more than losing calves... But I still wouldn't trade the farm life for anything! Better days will be ahead.  Sorry for the loss.

Lies lies lies or honest mistake?

Any semen dealer will stand behind this and have record of what you purchased.  Don't just lie down on this...you are certainly owed an adjustment.  I've seen first hand that mistakes like this happen.  I remember one deal where a guy flushed PB Charolais and was getting red calves.  Turned out...
