I'm challenged greatly by technology... so please excuse the family style photos.  Trying to decide between Cut Above or Ebony's Grandmaster for this Star Power daughter's 2nd calf.  Calf is 11 weeks old in picture and 3 weeks into recovery from a hernia repair...

feeding show heifer in last weeks of pregnancy

Simmental heifer turned 2 this week.  She will be shown at Ft. Worth, San Antonio, and hopefully Houston. All in the jr. shows.  Due to calve on Feb. 24.  She is definately not fat at this point.  Currently feeding purina full control mixed 50/50 with purina/honors finisher.  She won't eat the...

    Adding milo

Probably spelled it wrong, but it was suggested to add some milo to my daughter's heifer's feed.  What is this?  Anyone with any experience with it?  The heifer needs to develop a more "cowy" look.  Already feeding beet pulp and full tank.  Heifer is not a fan of either.

    deworming question about sheep

Does anyone on here know if there is a dewormer for Pregnant Ewes that will take care of tapeworms? Valbazen kills tapes, but it is not safe during pregnancy until 30-45 days after lambing and these gals would like this problem taken care of before 3 months goes by.

We have been using Roux Young Color to dye my daughter's Simmental heifer.  Show is next week... I don't have enough, product is discontinued and not able to be found ANYWHERE in driving distance.  Plan was to dye her tomorrow.  No time for a Sullivan's order.  What have other people used...

    Stangs13

Just wanted to say good luck in Fort Worth.  Also, have you bred your KSSR heifer yet?  If so, to what.  We are trying to figure out what to do with our flush mate, and I was curious about what you decided to do and what you considered.  For everyone else, I obviously don't know how to do...

    Fair over!!!

Just finished Brazoria County Fair (Texas).  What a week.  Rain, cold (for us) creating mud and misery.  Followed by 102 heat index 2 days later.  Anyway, we survived.  The kids (2 this year) were successful with their projects.  All 4 turkeys were in top 10 with the best 1 ending up Reserve...

    breeding cystic heifer

Hey everyone.  Happy New Year.  We are still working on getting my daughters' Simmental heifer bred.  After our county fair in Oct. we did get her to be checked out by a "reproductive specialist".  They discovered that she had a cyst on each ovary.  (No wonder 80 days with a bull failed). ...

    Now what????

Simmental heifer (born Jan. 06)  bred AI by her breeder (who averages 85% success) in March.  He was concerned about how little discharge she had.  Sure enough 21 days later she's crying along the fence.  Sent out onto a bull on May 31.  Spent 80+ days out there.  They thought they saw her...

Turning heifer back into a show animal

We are wondering what to do with daughter's heifer now... brief history... Simmental born Jan. 06.  AI in April... didn't stick... Someone kindly allowed us to stick her on his 100 acres with his Simmental bull (who has been used on heifers successfully) at the end of May.  Due to extremely...
