We have bred 3 drafts, all sexed semen off 7 day cidrs. Heat check religiously every 3 hours. Try to wait at least 3-6 hours after the first standing heat. Used to wait 12 hours after they quit standing. Now we breed about anytime, we breed morning and night if we had one start atanding at 3pm...
Eberth thanks for the intrest. Sounds like that that could be a home run. I own him with 3 others and I was just thinking about this the other day. Conventional has been moving fast enough not much reason to mess with sexed, but I will consult the other and get back with you. I own the step up...
I'm no expert but I think it has to do with tails and deformities. Usually they freeze but it's after the thaw to check mobility that the problem arises.
Had a 10 month old purebred Simmy collect at barely 10 months last year, they were even able to sex it. Dozen calves on the ground before he's two should really help promote him. Excited to have him standing at denver with 3 daughters next to him! On another note just had one that has volume but...
Unfortunately the best option would be get rid of the orphan. Baby calves are always hot this time of year with people looking to put calves on cows that lost one. They bring up to $500 around here. Be careful your princess doesn't start letting other mature heifers start nursing her. I had this...
I'm curious also, but I think if they're keeping some great. Not my place to ask. Terrible terrible situation, but you have a chance to get in on some great genetics. After the sale when the family settles from the hustle and bustle call and see if any opens or young pairs are available if...
The average divide by two doesn't quite work. If there is a sire with a lot more data than another in a pedigree, bigger data will overrule. Getting into contemporary groups and things of that nature. I certainly don't understand it all but am trying.
I think it's great the bull producers are being rewarded all over the country. I just hope they don't forget to cut what needs cut trying to sell more Bulls.
Thanks for the info, should really invest in one but haven't figured out the logistics. So do you just keep a extra tank full of nitrogen to use as a nurse tank so to speak? I always use nichols Cyro to ship out of farm, but as someone said earlier I could have a shipper paid for by now.
