    Steer that was banded

I have a calf that we banded the first of August that is going to a show this weekend. The bag still hasn't fallen off. Anything that I can do to accelerate the process?

First calf from a Club Calf bull - Thoughts?

The shorthorn in him goes back to a cow that my sister showed when she was in 4H. about 20 years ago.  I think she was on the farm till she was 15 or 16.  So I am not sure. This calf is out of a grand daughter of that cow. The mother of the calf is out of the Minerich bull that we had pictured...

Some more pictures, I need to get a nice grassy area fenced off for next year.

ugghhh What should I do? (do you raise more than 1 breed)

My grandfather started using Limousin bulls on shorthorn cows in the 70's. It makes a tremendous cross.  The calf you are directed to go see above is an Alias calf out of a cow that is 3/4 limousin, 1/4 shorthorn.

First calf from a Club Calf bull - Thoughts?

He has only been tied up 3 times, stood perfectly in the chute while we were clipping him today. No issues with the show stick from the start either.

Yeah, he was banded the first of the month. Got to it a bit later than we wanted this year.

I will try to get a new picture of her soon.

Our best calf in the field

She is looking great. Lots of body and pretty decent thickness. I wish she was a little cleaner fronted.  We are working on getting here ready for the county fair.

Our best calf in the field

( sorry for the poor quality picture, working on a better on) This is our best calf in the field this year.  A LimFlex calf out of AHFF DAKOTA THUNDER 859U. Mother is a LimFlex 50%. I love the amount of body she is showing at 2 months of age.

Selecting AI Sires -- a search for recommendations

There is always a lot of information to go through when trying to choose the right one, and since I am newer to the club calf bulls I am going to ask for recommendations. I am looking to produce club calf momma's over the next few years in hopes of being able to produce above average calves for...

Thank you all for the kind words. It is definitely exciting to get a good calf on the ground for sure.

First calf from a Club Calf bull - Thoughts?

Thanks! Yeah we use the tape regularly, one side for bulls , onside for heifers. It wraps around the top of the hoof right at the hair line.  It is usually pretty good, +- 3 lbs or so.  I taped him and it just didn't seem right. Reached down and picked him up and knew it wasn't right. That is...

First calf from a Club Calf bull - Thoughts?

Let him grow and see what he looks like,  most likely steer him and see if I can get him sold. We were hoping for a heifer, but will take what nature gives us. Nieces will be old enough in a couple years to show and I wanted to get a couple good steer making cows into the herd.  We have a little...

First calf from a Club Calf bull - Thoughts?

This year we decided to breed a few cows to a club calf bull. The first calf born is an Alias calf. Pictures are below. What do you think?  The cow is a shorthorn limousin cross cow. He is 1 week old in this picture.
