    Sale Barn Designs

That's actually my plan for the facility. We have all the pens right next to the site location, so the bulls will be penned outside in their normal feeding groups. This way nothing gets moved around, the animals are content and settled and not fighting or horsing around. We would not be...

    Sale Barn Designs

I've got a pretty good idea as far as the layout and the technology I want to move into the barn. What are some of the cool features you have seen in different sale barns? Things like kitchens, restrooms, bars, etc? Also, what do you see for seating in a lot of on-farm barns? Are they using...

    Sale Barn Designs

Couldn't find any pics on their site. My plan is to go approx 40x60 and put a wall in the middle dividing it in half. Half the building would be used for feed storage, and also storage for the skid steer and the Ranger. Come sale day it can be cleaned up and used for a meal or settlement. Put...

    Sale Barn Designs

I know there's been a lot of talk about show barn plans and designs, but I'm going to change this up a bit. We're looking at possibly building a sale facility at our place. I'd like the building to be used for more than just the sale though so we can use it year round. Does anyone have a similar...

Broken or dislocated shoulder on bred heifer

Funny story - we actually sold a heifer at Agribition in Canada this fall. New owner wanted her to go to Denver. We bring her home and a week later she spooks on the ice and screws up her front shoulder. She made it nearly 3 weeks of progressively getting worse until we were nearly ready to put...

    Waterer Keeps Freezing

We've been sitting at around 0 for raw temp, -20 with wind chill for the past couple days. We have the splatter proof lights in the rest of our metal tanks and typically don't have any problems. The door on this Poly tank is small enough that you can't get a splatter proof bulbs below, so you're...

    Waterer Keeps Freezing

Hoping to pick some brains with this topic. I'm about out of ideas already. We have a Franklin Poly livestock waterer setup in a fenceline to service 2 pens. This is the 100 head capacity waterer. One side of the tank is plugged, so water is only available on one side. We keep having issues...

    Exciting Times at Agribition

We were stalled down in the Char barn and got to hear all the good gossip about this. I'm not sure how much of this is factual, but I've heard the same story quite a few times now from different people. The cow was part of a cow/calf pair. The cow was pumped with 7 liters of 7-Up, and...

    Agribition Stalls

Already got the call plan taken care of. Found out the hard way that the Blackberry data plan is apparently "international data roaming" in Canada. Good excuse to turn my phone off so I'm not answering emails from the office the whole time.

    Agribition Stalls

Good to know. What's the average space/animal? We've got 6 head - 3 calves, 2 breds, and a big bull. Just figuring how long of a chain or cable I'm going to need. What other stuff am I forgetting that could make my life easier?

    Agribition Stalls

What is the stalling like in the barns for Agribition? I've seen a few people who bring chains or cables and bring them to tie higher to. Do I need to be bringing corral panels or something with like we do for NWSS so you can tie with heads up?

    Keeping Halter On

Sounds better than bringing portable corrale panels with :)

    Keeping Halter On

Wow, I hate to even admit this, but we've never done anythign with the neck rope through the halter at tie outs. I imagine you just kind of slip the neck rope under the halter and then complete the loop and clip it onto the ring?

    Keeping Halter On

I've got a coming 2 year old bull that has figured out how to pop his halter off if he rubs it the right way. We're taking him to Agribition next week, and the last thing I want to do is run around Regina after a big bull. We've tried running a zip tie through the knot, and that doesn't seem to...

    Agribition for Dummies

Does Pro-Biotic count as a feed additive (Appetite Express, etc)? Otherwise we'd just be bringing our normal feed with, some beet pulp, etc. Thanksgiving is on the 25th this year. We're not released until the 27th, so it shouldn't interfere.

    Agribition for Dummies

We're based out of North Dakota and will be in the Gelbvieh barn. Good to know about the Tail Adhesive! If we can get away with not having to bring hay along it'll cut down quite a bit on trailer packing. We will go through North Portal for our inspection. I spoke with the folks at Agribition...

    Agribition for Dummies

Hey Folks, We're going to be pulling our string across the border for Agribition in a few weeks. Had a few final questions so we have an idea what we're in for: 1. I know they do straw in the tie-outs for you. Is there hay available for purchase up there? If so, what kind of quality is it...

    Seat sales to Agribition

We booked our hotel rooms back in May already and rooms were getting tight then. Just got off the phone with the vet to get our paperwork in order to make the border crossing. Now to get those entries sent in and finally - get the cattle broke :)

    Truck question

Had an 08 3500 dually, put 75,000 miles on it, only problem I ever had was related to a reprogram of a sensor. Traded it in June for a 08 GMC - 15,000 miles on that one so far without a hiccup. Duramax is very strong and will tow the crap out of whatever you put behind it. Allison tranny is flat...
