    Halter Breaking

In search of thoughts/advice.  I have a new steer that was tie broke when purchased.  He came home and walked like a dream for a week.  Now going on 2 weeks we are in a tug of war with him.  He's calm and doesn't do anything bad-my 9yo loves him.  he will lead to his feed bunk (which we do daily...

    broken leg

I had one break on a newborn.  I used a yard stick, pool noodle and duct tape.  Vet liked the job so left it alone.  Calf wore. Cast for 5wks.  It came off on its own. And you would never know it was broken except the hair is a bit shorter on that leg. We are on month 6 and weaning him and he's...

    JPJ Daughters

What is everyone breeding their Jakes Proud Jazz daughters to?  I'd love to go back to a PB Shorthorn but looking at the Bulls and EPDs...BWs are high-at least they are for my taste.  Any suggestions and/or education on the Shorthorn breed is appreciated!

    Solid Gold genetic question

Genetics question.  Solid Gold bred to a heterozygous black Maine cow...and calf is black.  Just coincidence that the black appeared?  Now, I know black was/is a possibility but just a little puzzled.  Any genetic insight is appreciated!

    homemade neck sweat ?

Depending on severity of sweeting needed....we've used icy hot, wrapped in seran wrap covered by the Sullivan's neck sweat.  The icy hot doesn't cause much flakey skin.

    Is Aging a new problem?

It is AWFUL in Texas.  And the crazy thing...I've noticed over the past 2-3 years-the judges are blind to the fact they have a heifer that stands 6-8" taller then the rest of the class and out weighs them by 150-200lbs and they use her and talk her up. Then in division bury her cause she's stale...

    Bull or steer him

This fella is for sale.  Decided not to keep him....his dam and granddam are 2 of my main females...so a lot of my herd is closely related.  I know there is a classified section...for some reason it won't let me upload my pics/ad there.  Any questions message me.

    Bull or steer him

I think he would be a decent steer.  Sound, plenty of meat and he has pretty nice hair for Soutb Texas and our 95+degree weather.

    Bull or steer him

If I keep the calf a bull, I would likely register him as a maintainer (mom is a PB maine).  Which in turn would mean the offspring would be eligible too.
