How many cows do you figure a yearling bull can cover?

What do the shorthorn breeders on this board think of the new on line registry? Am I the only one that finds it difficult to use? I have worked with computers for 20+ years so have a pretty good grasp on most things but it seems everything I do is more confusing.

I recall some time ago there was a post that said adding iodine to mineral mix greatly aided in eliminating pink eye. Does anyone recall how much should be added? I also thought there was a search function for this board but am blank on finding it

I am in process of getting my AI schedule set up. I have one cow (5 year old) that calved later. If I put her in the AI group, I will be inserting the CIDR 39 days post calving. Am I wasting CIDR and semen to try that soon or is it worth trying to move her up?

I have read many columns on how many cows are being culled due to the drought in Texas. I would think this would create a supply/demand problem and push the cull cow prices down. However for the ones I've sold this year, I am getting 50% more than two years ago (I'm in Ohio). what gives???

I've always resisted using an electric prod when working cattle in the chute. Now the vet is agreeing with my partner and saying it's better than twisting tails and poking. I have a calm herd and want to keep it that way. Your thoughts??

I'm getting message that says cattle today sight has been reported as a "attack sight" for some spyware and I can't get in. Are others having this problem?

I've read comments on "big dumb calves". Seven days ago a shorthorn heifer had a large bull calf (~115 lbs). It was a very hard pull. The mother is doing fine but the calf has been slow to bounce back. He's very  lethargic (sp) and lays around . he is nursing and seems full. Suggestions??
