    Some steers we looked at.

Hey, It's been a while since I posted. No cows for me yet. That will be a graduation gift. Been so busy with upper-level courses in university. Meanwhile, we went to go look at steers. I showed a pic to my younger brother who I was able to convince to get one this year, so another trip for a...

    Quick Update

Been a bit busy lately, but thought I would post a quick update. This steer is ~1100 #. This is the most weight and fat we have been able to put on a Purebred Limi up til now...so we are happy. :) Not a special pic. Didn't have the camera with me. Next time, I will be sure to take a camera and...

    Fitting bulls vs. steers

Going to be showing bulls and a heifer for the first time in the upcoming season. I'm wondering if there is anything you do when fitting steers that you wouldn't do when fitting a bull or vice versa? How about with Heifers?

    Couple of Bull calves.

Went back home this weekend and picked out a couple of bull calves to show this summer. Both are purebred Limos born May. Pics are from September. They also had an April 09 heifer just calf two weeks ago that I'll be showing...no pics of her yet though. What do you think? They were two of 5...

    Just reminiscing: old pics.

So i've just been looking at all these MaineX show calves. It always gets me wondering if we will try our hand at MaineX calves here. But I think back to the last only MaineX calf we had. He was pretty nice. Our club took 7 of the 10 top spots in weight classes that year. For the first time...

    Smokies - Experiment

Hey, So I was reading around on here. Came across a paragraph that Charolais white acts as a diluter colour. Therefore, redxcharolais = tan, yellow colour range and blackxchar=grey smokies. True? If so, here are my thoughts for my experiment: I really love high yielding Limos. But they aren't...

    Some new steers!

Hey, So I meant to stay away from purebreds this year for the kids in the 4-H Club. We were bored so we called up the folks at Hivalleylimo.com to go see what they have going on in their pens and fields. This trip was solely menat to kill time on the weekend. However, we were extrememly...

    Getting prepared.

So as i've mentioned in my first post here, I've never lived on a ranch before. I've showed steers, but I imagine going to a ranch picking up a steer, feeding it, then selling it is much different then actually raising cattle. My uncle is starting with cattle again, raising feeder calves. This...
