    New shorthorn herd bull

Yes he does, Jaimiediamond.  I had gone by myself to take a look at them and then a couple of days later went back with my hubby. Didn't tell him which was my pick and he picked this one out too. There are some other ones in the bunch that look really good too. Some nice yearlings available as...

    New shorthorn herd bull

We are really excited about our latest purchase. The top picture is of the bull we just bought from Hatfield Shorthorns & Clydesdales. He is Hatfield General 6Z a 2 year old son of one of our current herdbulls Hatfield Governor 17X. Governor has done a great job of improving our herd with his...

    son's new angus heifer

She is a smaller framed and very pretty. Personally we like to have a bit more performance as well. He looked at your bred heifer as well. He was also very interested in Brookmore's heifers. They were a little above his price range.  ;) Met some really nice folks at the sale.

    son's new angus heifer

Last year my son bought a nice bred angus cow from a herd dispersal. It was his first purchase to start his own herd. He got a nice lookin'  WAF Zorzal bull calf off of her. This fall she came in open after having many chances with the bull and AI. He was crushed. I asked him what he wanted to do...

    County Show = Popularity Contest

interesting read. Now as a fellow momma bear I would like to put my two cents in. I don't like taking out loans and I do not consider my banker my friend. However, if my kid has to do that to buy something, make sure he only borrows as much as he can pay back. Then he will get good credit and a...

New steers/heifers for the 4-H year

Thanks Jaimie! She is pretty sweet. I think she is going to make a really nice cow. My son picked her because he liked his first steer so much and she is from the same dam. We have Weigh Day on Saturday, so we'll see how heavy the steers are.

New steers/heifers for the 4-H year

Another year, another set of steers for the kids. This year we have a nephew and a family friend picking up a steer from our place as well. That means, there will be 3 shorthorn cross steers and one angus x shorthorn steer going to the show. My boys are also taking shorthorn cross heifers to the...

    Masculinity in Shorthorns

Here is Governor at Agribition in Regina SK when he was a calf. No doubts that you're lookin' at a bull calf here.

    Masculinity in Shorthorns

This is our shorthorn bull, Hatfield Governor 17X. To me, he is a fantastic eg of a masculine bull. His heifer calves are feminine and we've had no calving issues with him, even on first calf heifers.

    Polymelia in Angus cattle

http://hereford.org/node/343 This is the article.  Starts on page 24 I think. It is a little light on hard and firm data. I am not saying that I have the answer for what the Angus Association should do, but I do hope that they are very careful in their decision making. Strict, clear guidelines...

    Polymelia in Angus cattle

Hereford Guy, I see the point you are trying to make, but are you not concerned about the Angus breed getting hurt by this? Look at TH and all that stuff, it hasn't done the shorthorn industry any good. Plus, there is also an article, (I believe my neighbour told me it was in the Hereford...
